Hi there,

First of all a big thank you for the huge amount of advice posted on here - I'm a long time lurked who has quietly gleaned all info, leading to me buying my V8V last October - will post photos soon I promise!

Now it's service time - please could I have recommendations for a decent independent in London, Essex or Kent? Travelling further for quality also an option (was going to use DMS until it disappeared).

Thanks in advance and a big hello,

Rich

Hi Rich .
Dont rule out the dealers - Bogie has reported good service from Grange at Brentwood and I have used Lancaster Cambridge for my last 4 services who have always been competitive. You could try PSR Automotive at Bishops Stortford who certainly have good reviews from the Lotus guys and then there is also Rikki Cann at Southend however for me they were always more expensive than Lancasters.

Blimey, is this the third time this has come up today??

Dealers - Stratstone Amersham or HWM in Walton would be my choice from forum reputation.

Independents in the SE I would and do use Nicholas Mee in SW London and after today am happy to recommend Trintity in Cobham who have done great work on Burntout's 'Stealth' Vantage.

I used to travel to DMS as well and am now very happy using Bamford Rose in Warwichshire. They're much closer than DMS were so if you were happy to travel up there anyway, check them out. They know an awful lot about Gaydon and Bloxham Astons.

Another vote for Grange in Brentwood. Pricing was fine (if that's what is prompting the indie recommendations)and the service very good.

It was a response to the recommendation above - if someone is still having their Vantage serviced there, it appears so.

Very much still in business. Highly recommended and the only place I take all my Astons to.

Hi Guys & girls..

I have just collected my car from Pugsley & Lewis and indep based in Beckenham in Kent - fantastic service, really nice guys, and did an excellent job with no fuss and no little notes that says - btw you will have all these things to fix very soon.

Highly recommend

General update as this comes up loads... and I know we have the die hard fans of both the Indy and the rest who would rather get the full Aston stamp.... if you can get it at the right price and the right level of service. Must admit I am the latter.. but not if I have to pay through the ... for it.

So as I have now had to go through the rigmarole of trying to book my pride an joy in for a service I thought I would post my findings. i've spent about a week ringing all of the Indy's I could find on the Net, PH and AMOC. Most of these have been in many threads on here so it made my job a little easier... that said tracking them down is always a challenge unless your a demon with the search criteria.

In my case it was for a 3rd year service (2008 car) just in extended warranty and I got prices from 450 + Vat to 1330 inc vat dependant on weather they plumped for the 3rd or 4th year proper service. But most costs were between 550 and 700... which to be honest I didn't think was bad...

I was also pleasantly surprised that although the main AM dealers were massively over the top on first approach that when you pushed them they ended up reducing the price to a level that wasn't that far away from the bigger Indy's... I think its as other people have stated unless you ask you don't get.

All garages were as helpful as one another and based on my person experience Grange came up trumps... this time it was Welwyn who will get my business.

That is interesting to know as Grange Welwyn are my local dealer. Good to hear they are reasonable for servicing.

When we meet up in the city I can give you the low down.... or maybe at the factory visit if you make the list ;-)

good to have some one else local... all I seem to see is DB9's round our way.... no offence to any of those drivers.....
