with all you help, and a bit of research googling, it would appear that a Varta H3 battery with 830 cold cranking is the one...

however contacted AM just before ordering, and they said they have special shaped batteries with AM on the side.. be aware of the normal ones being supplied...

so help needed please, experiences of your purchases etc...

thanks
The Varta one I bought from Halfords for a DB9 Volante was identical in shape and size to the one I took out.

laugh

I'm sure they do. They also have tyres with AM on the side and special Aston Martin oil at service time rolleyes

I have a standard Varta 830A. I am pretty sure it fits, what with it fitting prettily.

lol that reminds me of a Honda dealer with my S2000 saying he needed to go through "special import channels" to get me a battery, that wanted £90 - got one at a motor factors for £30 smile

I was walking home musing about getting a Cat D DB9 cheaply and stripping it for racing in the AMOC league. Probably quite cost effective if I could find a broken manual coupe. Rip out the interior, airbags, CD changer etc, you could knock 100s of kilos off. Suddenly 450bhp + BR's exhaust system becomes more than adequate!
Didn't someone do something similar with a V8 a while back??
