Well if it helps, not long ago I bought 2 new rear, proper spec AM Bridgestones for £500 quid all in, fitted, balanced and Vat..
Not that far from you..smile

And I had all 4 wheels powder coated in charcoal (they had other finishes) for less than £300, and they did a smashing jobsmile

Just had 4 year service on DB9 at Aston Martin in Chichester for £950 including VAT! Have to say it was a very pleasant experience and significantly cheaper than my local dealers.

First AM service experience and def recommend them. Amusingly they flagged my headlamp washers as not working - that would be because I removed the fuse then!

Not what you expect at all. Porsche dealer sent me off with a fuel injector the cracked that sprayed petrol all around engine bay. Another didnt put a plug in correctly and i blew it out! Thing is you have to trust them at some point or learn to do the work yourself.

How did they react? As we can only name dealers that gave us good service, and clues as to the location?

They don't know.... I just re-fitted it myself, and I'll be voting with my wallet and going elsewhere in future...

Well Jockman, I'm most impressed with your mechanical knowledge.... I was lead to believe you didn't know the front from the back, but that is indeed the self levelling system for the headlights.....smilesmile

Can't see it myself Mikey.....He originally thought it was a giggling pin, that should have passed through a laffin shaft...but had been left disconnected

Then someone told him what it REALLY ishehe

As for the issue itself, it's been like this following it's last visit to a main dealer, last July..... This was picked up at the MOT on Wednesday...

I always get all my MOT's at a small independent garage in Wem, where they have 2 very experienced testers....
It was interesting this time, as it was the first Vantage they'd done.... And as they're unfamiliar with the vehicle, they printed off special notes, regarding jacking points etc, and then spent extra time checking the car..... Very very thorough and professional outfit, that value customers, and go the extra mile to do the job right....smile which is why I've been a loyal customer for over 15 yearsthumbup

Feel free.... I'm always, happy to recommend them.... They won't do servicing on the AM (another thing I like about them is that they will admit when a job isn't within their area of expertise) but they'll happily do MOT's, brakes etc, and paintwork...

Hi to you all i'm new on here and have just bought a 56 plate V8 Vantage with 85k on the clock which should be nothing to an engine like this.
The prices that you have paid and been quoted for sevicing are just stupid.
I have been working on cars on other machines for 30 years and in very few cases have i failed to fix something that has not been diognostic based where special equipment is needed.
Where the garage is quoting 3 hours for a service you can bet that the job can be done in about half that if it is done by a fitter that is doing it all the time.
I have one final comment, some said that they had suppled their own oil at £6 a liter instead of £18, DON'T do it these cars have a dry sump system fitted use the Castrol oil that is specified, i had problems years a go with a rally car with a dry sump system, the wrong oil was used at the cost of 2 engines.

Enjoy Dixie
