Bromley Pageant 2012
Discussion
This shall be a bit of a road trip for me as the week before I'll be starting my new job in Aberdeen so I shall be doing the return trip from there. Which I reckon will be over a 1000 miles!
Edited to add - 1114 miles there and back according to Google Maps.

Its a bit too far for many of us.Edited to add - 1114 miles there and back according to Google Maps.
Could we get the Bromley Pageant moved somewhere a bit more central? Maybe Preston? Happy to leave the name as it is so we don't cause any confusion
Hi to All,
Just to keep those attending and those wishing to attend, the updates on the pageant
Firstly, many thanks to you all for agreeing to display your cars at the
pageant, it is greatly appreciated.
Secondly, I am awaiting the tickets to be sent from the promoter, and I will
send these to you as soon as I receive them!! Once posted, I will e-mail to
you to watch out for them to appear on your door mat!!!!
Thirdly, we will need some “muscle” (or as Chris Laffan calls you “Dawn’s
Little Helpers!”) on Saturday 9th June to help us raise the 2 marquees for
the stand and to mark out car positions, so if anyone is at a loose end on
that day and you have finished detailing your car, please let me know!! I
will be very grateful.
Fourthly, we are trying to raise as much money for the Air Ambulances as
possible, one way is to sell the infamous cup cakes (another great idea from
Chris Laffan!!), so we are asking for some yummy offerings to attract even
more people to the stand to support such a worthy cause!! This is not just
aimed at the ladies, we are not sexist here!! So if you guys can get your
aprons on and hands covered in flour, each cake will help a worthy cause!!
On the day, the doors open at approximately 7:00am (to be confirmed), and I
would advise arriving as early as possible as the roads can become very
busy, in addition more Dawn’s little helpers will be required to help
arrange the stand and organise the cars. So arrive early, and avoid the
queues! We are in the main show ground, not with all the other one club
displays.
I have also asked for Astons to parade in the main arena, this has been
agreed in principle.
Here is what we have arranged this year:
I currently have 68 cars for the pageant, although some of these are still
undecided, so I think we can safely say 60 cars this year for the Pageant.
Paul Squires and Mark Gauntlett from Aston Martin have once again come up
trumps with a car for the pageant(not yet agreed) and a super prize!!
Current 2012 Car Display. As you will see we have an area at the front of
the stand where we will display the cars through history, and we will
display the AM car provided at the front in the middle as per last year with
the Vanquish!!
Exhibition
Exhibition: Aston Martin, AMOC Heritage and Factories History
Aston Martin Racing information, plus features on the 2 DB4 racing cars
being displayed.
The Aston Martin Time Line (as displayed on the offices at Gaydon)
Restoration Projects
Restoration / Renovation Projects covering Pre/Post war cars and Lewis Evans
special!!
Andrew Randall’s 1935 Mark II Tourer
Tim Lewis has a DB5 barn find which will be displayed on a trailer (the
before!!), and we have a silver DB5 with an 8OND number plate to display
next to it!! (the after)
Lewis Evans new one one-off special!!
Charity
We have agreed to support both the London Air Ambulance and the Kent/Surrey
and Sussex Air Ambulance as our named charity.
Aston Martin have provided a tour for 4 people around Gaydon as our top
prize!
Advertising
We will have a full page advert in The Bromley Pageant Programme.
We will be advertising on the AMOC website.
We can also link or advertise on the charity websites.
The most important part of the pageant is that everyone has a fantastic day,
enjoys the cars and the company and we raise lots of money for a good
cause!!
Hopefully the weather remains as great as today!!
If you wish to attend, just let me know, so I can arrange a registration form and tickets!!
Kind Regards
Dawn

and where was the mighty Yeti?.....you missed a good day out!!
I know, gutted - the pictures looked brilliant!BR made the call last week that the car wouldn't be ready in time, the exhaust supplier's welders were on compassionate leave so that put paid to it
Picking up it up Tuesday night hopefully and off the LM in it, sans upgraded exhaust. The next attempt is to get it to Hever completed!!
Have mailed you about Hever by the way...

I took a few photos but mostly of my car . Is anyone interested enough for me to post them?
I got up at crack of dawn (actually it was half an hour before dawn) and ran down to Kent entirely within the legal speed limits . Had to slug two Red Bulls to fight off sleep for the slower trudge home.
Day was a suprisingly good giggle meeting a few other PHers, one with an unusal plate name I think I pointed out to him.
They asked if a few of us would do a trip around the main ring - nearly all of us went; seems Aston owner are attention seekers! Frankly Aston's were about the only thing worth seeing at the show, unless you liked badly tarted up loud bits of 60/70's junk or a parltry display of Ferraris all behind wire. I had kids jumping in and out of my car all day, funny how 8 year olds automatically know how cool an Aston is. They are the ones in 40 years will be buying Astons with Sunday's experience still in their minds. I did not mind letting them sit in car as many of you know; all my stuff has already been nicked.
Hats off to Dawn for organising the event which went like clockwork. Dawn if you could just send me my prize for best Aston (so long as its not a trip to Gaydon).

Some photos which of course are mostly inclusive of my motor. Had I thought about it I could have taken a wider range of shots of some of the other cars on display including a very bright red (in and out) DBS Volante which I though really stood out in a crowd.
Two most beautiful things in my life in one photo!
