Hi folks.
I'm weighing up the pro's and con's of AM ownership and one of the considerations is of course insurance.
So who would you recommed for a quote and what should a reasonable amount cost?
I was given a card by a chap at a JCT garage so phoned for a quote on a DB9 at around the 40k mark.
I'm 38 and think i tick all the right boxes to get a good quote so i was surprised when the quote came back at 1963.
Any offers on what i should expect without being bent over.

Thanks.

That might be a good quote! It's an expensive-to-repair car with a good turn of performance and increasingy owned by young hooligans wink

Try Locktons, the Aston Owner's club insurers, they put far more effort into looking at your particular circumstances.

I have a classic fleet policy with ClassicLine and think my DB9 was about 600 for 5k miles. 37yr old with 6 points!

Muffster, try Locktons, they've been a long term recommended insurer for many on here.

I also have tried Admiral multi car but after 12 months they wanted double the premium.

I'm 35 and have 4 cars on the Locktons policy and I only paid about 1200-1500 (can't remember exactly)last year.

It's renewal time next month for me so it'll be interesting to see if they've jumped up again.

hope that helps

+1 for Locktons.

Agreed replacement value (not market value), free AMOC membership and good people to deal with.

1250 for a V8V of similar value (40k), although with a miserly 380 BHP smile

33, clean license, living in SE1 (aka The Ghetto).

Assume DB9 also has a Tracker?

+1 for Admiral multi car - very good price for 5,000 miles PA & my other cars' premium will be lower in June when it comes on-board the policy.

You should also give Aviva a chance to quote, they were very accommodating when I got my V8V . They have also introduced a multi-car policy and have assured me of a significant overall reduction if I move the three cars to it when the first of them comes up for renewal in May.

Admiral were a clear winner for me for V8V (based on price). 34, couple of cars and it's about 1100 total from memory.

V12V with locktons 1,100, but with Admiral multi-Car 750.00

I stayed with Locktons due to a trip to SPA and the trackday cover it offers. I will revert to Admiral next year to save the money. I am considerably older than yow... at 48 though.

I'm a bit of a Larry on this one but try Adrian Flux.

I have insured my DB9 with them for a few years now (and also our 2 other daily use cars as well). As a broker they do shop around for the best rates: I price check them every year to make sure they stay on the ball wink

Another one for Admiral multi-car here. 670 for a 30 year old with 9 years NCB. Nearest competitor was miles away price-wise.

Plus one more for admiral multi car - it was about 650 for the V8V including business use for me and my wife, large northern city not noted for low insurance post codes. Plus lower rates on all other cars in the household.

A great response!!!
I asked about a tracker, i've got one on my RR but the guy said it doesn't make a difference unless the car is over 50K!
Some of those numbers look pretty good. Yes it's bound to attract expensive premiums but i'm 38, full NCB clean licence, limited mileage etc, etc.

I'm quite impressed with the info on the multicar policys. But how do they work exactly. What i mean is there is about a 6 month gap between the rewewals on my car and the wifes. So how do you bridge the gap so to speak, to renew the two together and then get a multicar policy?

Thanks.

Aviva have told me they will cancel my other two policies with no admin charges and any reimbursement due so that all three cars will start at the same time on the multi-car policy. Fortunately all three cars are already currently insured with them which simplifies the situation.

You put the first due car on (I read that as yours)and include your other cars on the application, including the date their current insurance expires. Just before that date you get another letter from Admiral as a reminder, then that car joins your policy. It joins with the number of days left to complete a full year for the first car, thus all cars on the policy expire at the same time, even though they wil have joined it at different times in the first year. The more cars you ave on, the bigger the discounts.

It's very good how it is managed, but still check your prices every year in case they get complacent and think they can just charge you what they like when all cars are on the policy.
