Fellow Aston drivers,

I really love the design of the new Vantage GTE and I'm thinking of getting my beloved Meteroite Grey V8 Vantage wrapped to copy the race car livery.

On the other hand I'm concerned that it might be too flashy.

Would you think that this will have a negative effect on the residual value of the car or maybe will add some value?

Any opinion appreciated !

Christof

If it's wrapped it shouldn't harm the residuals as you can remove it before sale. I think it would look great on the way to Le Mans.

To my eyes it's massively undermines the swage line down the wing & door.
However don't let me put you off. if it does it for you then get it bought.
I'll still wave at you!

+1 it doesn't follow any of the lines (infact totally the opposite)
It won't add value, I suspect it may do the opposite if you leave it on when you sell it.
I walked from a wrapped roadster a couple of years ago because I couldn't tell what condition the paint & body work was in underneath
But each to their own wink

For Le Mans, why not, it would look great.

For everyday road use, what are you trying to say?

Whichever race livery, I think the general absence, with a very few exceptions of seeing decked out replicas on the road tells you all you need to know.

Its your money, if thats what you want, enjoy.

If it really is easy to remove without damaging the paint in any way then all you have to lose is the cost of the wrap.

it would look amazing and is temporary. I agree would look fab on the way to Le Mans. Less so in tesco's car park!

but having never done it I don't know how easy they are to remove.

Can't see those exhausts making it over the speed ramps so that may not be an issue! laugh

I agree with all the above comments but I would probably go with a less fussy gulf wrap like this one

If I were you I would budget on it costing you the price to install and remove again before you try to sell it. I would love to own a gulf wrapped car but I wouldnt buy one (therefore I would only do it myself, which probably wont happen).

You could always buy a wrapped Cygnet instead!

I think it looks great, but don't assume for a moment anyone else will want to buy with a wrap, especially something as specific as Gulf racing colours.

Do it for you, take if off before you sell. Happy days.

Thanks for all the opinions.

I've just got the colour codes from AM customer care with an official approval from Gulf and now standing by for a quote for wrapping the car.

Costs are a valuable point, so I need to consider the costs for wrapping and removing.

I really like the look especially with the dark (black) parts of the body, which give the car a more sinister (and less flashy ;-) ) look compared to a full Gulf livery.

This would also give the chance to wrap the blue and orange parts only and will look nice with my anthracite wheels.

My intention is to drive the car on public roads and I'm still concerned how the public reaction will be, but on the other hand it's an Aston, it's british and has a racing heritage.

No need to worry for you to see it driving on UK roads as I'm based in Germany :-)

Decisions, decisions... :-)

Cheers,

Christof

I would love to do this on my V12V, but only for a short period of time. I think I'd tire of having the livery and all the attention it brings after a while. For me, that's a deal killer because of the expense involved.

Here is what I would do, if I would do it. smile

Sorry. This car looks like it has a rash around its mouth. I wouldn't buy a wrapped car - just because I have no idea of the condition of the body underneath so as the poster says, definitely budget for removal too.

On that note does ANYBODY have any experience of removing these things? I've heard of horror stories but not genuinely aware of any real wrap removal experiences. I'd like to wrap mine, but have no idea if I'll end up damaging my paintwork upon removal.
