The car's not been driven since Sunday so I thought I'd take it into work today.
Got 1/4 mile down the road and the "Emergency Brake Assist Failure" warning came up.

I wasn't too worried and carried on driving. Is this a genuine alert or will it clear? Should I be taking the car back yet again? (will be 3rd time in three weeks)

If your car is under warranty call out AM Assist they should be able to check what's going on.

It is probably to do with low voltage on the battery which then triggers a lot of different fault messages on the display. Take it for a long drive and then CTRL+ALT+DLT.

Good Luck

Makes sense!

How long can the car sit before the battery starts getting low? I know in my S2 Exige it's flat after two weeks so I leave it on trickle charge.

My understanding is that the "Emergency Brake Assist" warning is thrown up when the pressure transducer fails (located under the master cylinder) and that this is a fairly common component failure as brake fluid seeps past the seal and shorts the switch.

The function of the transducer is to keep the pressure applied to braking in an emergency stop because most people tend to reduce their pedal pressure due to ABS pumping back through the pedal.

I think when this component fails you also lose your DSC but you do not lose any significant braking performance per se

A new transducer is about £85.

Mark, best take it to the dealer as it could just be a low battery, but on the other hand it could be a fault and you don't want to risk a DSC fault.
How long the battery lasts depends on its condition, you can use the battery cut off switch, but best just get a trickle charger and keep it topped up all the time if it is going to sit for more than a week.

Thanks guys. Guess it's going back to the dealer AGAIN!

Getting a bit sick of this now. May end up rejecting the car as it's clearly not fit for purpose.

Well I've only owned it three weeks.

After three days it went back with failed sounder module and broken passenger window. It then went back the following day as the alarm wouldn't stop sounding. Now the EBA warning.

Either these cars are utterly unreliable or I've been very unlucky!

I think I will see how the car goes this evening to see if it clears. If it doesn't I guess I'll call AM assist.

Sounds like you have been rather unlucky, what was the alarm in the end? Just wondering if they have checked the battery as if this is on its last legs as others have said you will start to get lots of regular quirks!

I'm not sure as I never got exact confirmation. They disabled the panic alarm and also replaced the sounder module again, so guess it was one of those!

It is just very likely that it has been standing at the dealers for a long time without being used and then these gremlins appear. From experience Astons are quite reliable these days (better than the Porsches that i have had) but they all benefit from being used so get the gremlins sorted and used the car as intended. Good luck.

+1 my 3 month old car needed a new one after various curious electrical gremlins.
So much of the car relies on a good power supply any issue with electrics often affects other parts of the car.

Sounds like a battery conditioner would be a good investment. Mine is permanently hooked up to one.

Once you get past the niggles now it's being used, you'll have a great time. Mines a daily drive and I've unearthed one irritation with what is probably a failed wheel speed sensor which it's going in for on Monday, get past this and your car will be fine smile

Krisdelta, when you take it see if you can find out why that causes the acceleration issue (if that's what it is).

Don't worry - I'll post up a report once I've got her back from Trinity smile

Thanks guys.

I think the cars just asking to be driven more. Was fine a lunchtime and on the way home...

Fingers crossed.

I really wouldn't worry too much, the car is very hardy all in all - some of the sensors are just a little excitable - better it shutting down a component temporarily than something breaking, just part of the charm wink

Good on you using it every day, the only thing I don't use mine for is going to the tip!

Its not quite my everyday car but I should use it more really. Will try and drive it to work two days a week I think.

The poor Lotus is feeling very unloved. Not been driven in 6 weeks....
