The backbox change is for no other reason that to alter the noise the car makes, all of the sounds deadening is in there. The free flowing cats WILL make a difference to power and torque and they will also make the car louder.

Yep - but you posted links to a backbox

Thanks for clearing all this up. So if I'm looking for noise improvement, then I will perhaps just need the backbox for now, and maybe save the cats for the future. The backbox change is for no other reason that to alter the noise the car makes, all of the sounds deadening is in there. I am also wondering whether Larini or Quicksilver would be more of my taste... (tried to search for vids on youtube but not many appears on larinis)

Agree with George...
This sounds much better than Larini. Larini seems to try to make the DBS sound like a Ferrari, while this makes the DBS sound like the Aston beast it is.

I am more than happy with my Quicksilver Supersport.....
All the growl and burble I could have ever wished for.....
I am keen to hear my back box, with a set of race cats to see what difference it makes, from experience with my 911 it sounded worse with the race cats than the standard ones...

I hear (or more accurately "read") many people raving about how the free-flowing cats make their exhaust crackle and pop on overrun. Am I the only one who actually doesn't like that sound? To me it just sounds messy. I love the throaty growl of the Quicksilver or the higher pitch note of the Larini backboxes, but I could do without all the little "pops" when releasing the throttle on cars with the 200-cell cats. They sound like a dozen little back-fires (which, btw, is exactly what they are).
Has anyone tried the titanium backboxes that are on ebay for £2k.
That 26Kg weight reduction is pretty impressive, but I'd like views from someone that has tried one before considering it for mine

Just fitted a QS sport back box to my DB9 and a bit disapointed as it sems quieter than the std decorcked box, will it free itself with time or should I reffit the genuine "silencer",any advises?
Either someting was wrong with your old box, something is wrong with your new box, or something is wrong with your ears!!By it's very nature, the box works simply by having less sound deadening material than the standard box, valves or not. That's why it's lighter. Did you by it new? QS might exchange it for a SuperSports.
There is Sports, SuperSports and SuperSports Plus. I guess you have the Sports? Mine is SuperSports and many will agree on here it is loud enough...

Thanks Lewis,my ears are fines!!!maybe my old box had freed a little bit, will wait a while.Bought it used so exchange for supersport is not an option.By it's very nature, the box works simply by having less sound deadening material than the standard box, valves or not.
