DBS vs V12Vantage.
Discussion
I can see George's point re white cars, but morning frost is anything but normal white. I love it. The first time I saw one drive past my house on a factory v8 a long time ago (it had a side skirt missing for some reason) I thought wow and later learned what it was.
Mr jockman is right, I do get to deal with all manner of colours, but if I'm honest, I would be very hard pressed to choose a colour in the Aston range. I would probably end up getting an onyx or storm black car, but when you get used to a colour, you see a completely different one and think wow, that looks good. For example, I had done a run of grey v8s and then did tony halls green db9 and as much I would hate to admit it to him, it looked awesome. I don't know if anyone has ever seen pics of Tony's car?.......lol
The good thing about Aston martins is that they seem to come alive in the sun. Mostly due to the flake in the paint.
Sorry, I'm going off on one now.......

Francis, it's the pictures of Tony himself that are a bit frightening I find. From pizzagate....to the one finger salute....to the subtle two finger salute holding the burger in the other hand.
One hell of a physique

If i had the choice (which i never will) i would go for the v12v, however, i think the DBS looks stunning. However, i cant get my head round why george or anyone would think a virage looks better than a v12v!? I really dont like the shiny bonnet vents on them....
Look at that and then look at a virage......
no further questions your honour.....
Great job you did on that car Francis! Look at that and then look at a virage......

The V12V is my least favourite because of the bonnet vents.
Sorry to hear that George. And there was me drawing up the paperwork to direct swap my V12V for your Polo Gti. I was also going to throw in a years free insurance, you being 12 'n all I just dislike carbon fibre weave, if they were painted black it wouldn't look too bad, but the original V12VRS concept bonnet should have been the way forward imo, it would then overtake the DBS in my rankings of Aston looks

Ok so for your 90k you could find a nice one of either. In your opinion which of these is the better buy, better to drive and ultimately the future classic? other reasons?
Better Buy: At the same price/condition, it has to be the DBS, since it will be older and therefore is farther down the depreciation curve to start with. You will lose less money owning the DBS, if you sell a couple years down the road.Better to Drive: Depends on you for sure.
Future Classic: Have to go DBS here again. The top of the line models are always the first to become a classic. And, say what you will, but the tie in to 007 is a real asset.

Morning frost a chavvy colour!
Each to their own I guess.
Agreed. Morning frost is lovely. There is such a thing as tastefully loud and that's morning frost. I do believe you need the same lack of imagination not to like morning frost, as those that paint their walls in magnolia. Each to their own I guess.

Totally 100% biased - V12V.
Have only driven the DBS with TT2 - a beautiful fast sporting GT which is quite easy to drive and feels very special but (waits to be flamed ) just felt like a DB9 turned up to the max . V12V is just as beautiful in a more aggresive way but can, with the press of one button , turn from a fast GT car to a brutal supercar. If you want to drive it - buy it - the V12V .
And to me, driving the v12v just felt like a v8v tuned up to the max. Hence buying a DBS (manual coupe) after having had a v8v 4.7. The DBS for me is 2 cars in one and pure beauty. I look forward to the next appearing in the not too distant future...Have only driven the DBS with TT2 - a beautiful fast sporting GT which is quite easy to drive and feels very special but (waits to be flamed ) just felt like a DB9 turned up to the max . I would describe Morning Frost white as more untastefully quiet rather than tastefully loud. Tastefully loud is something like Cobalt or Winchester blue imo. Morning Frost looks like something a league 2 footballer would spec. I can't wait until white cars go out of fashion, the sooner the better.DB9VolanteDriver said:

This is pretty good thinking, I reckon. A manual DBS Coupe is a proper, proper car. It is a really good drive and it works as a car too (I have a 430 too and that is brilliant, but it is a toy). If you can pick both up for a similar price, I can't think of a single reason not to choose a DBS.Better to Drive: Depends on you for sure.

It is a car to make you feel very good indeed.

Dislike by association makes it chavvy then i.e. when league 2 footballers start buying them? Its interesting how a car colour can become 'chavvy' - it's just a colour. I see it differently. At our end of the market, I like to lead. I'll drive an expensive white car, because I can and because i want to. Spotty teenagers that want a car like mine might recolour their ford fiestas. The ford might look distasteful but my Aston never will.cayman-black said:

I've been dithering over this choice for months.FirstlY the vantage will be the classic just due to the fact that there are far less of them around.
Driving wise the DBS is a more useable daily drive ,and has a better resolved ride/handling combination, but to use as a 2nd car the vantage is a slghty better bet due to its compactness ,the DBS is a big car to hustle on b roads,it can do it ,but the vantage is better for that sort of thing I found.
Either is a winner.
