That picture has just made me feel very old.
My first thought was - get off the bonnet you'll dent it!
Followed by - mind those heels on the paintwork.
Only after that did I consider anything else
frown

next step it will be a wanting a DB9 and smelling of wee.
Talking of DB9s and leaking, when the boot of one is opened after rain, the water does pour straight into it. Bit of a pain.

It was also not wet in the wine bar I was in EC3 but I wouldn't say I was dry!

This is the rusty bit in the engine I was on about. Is this normal for it to rust?

Was in this general area if it helps identify it:

As for under the bonnet, water doesn't really hurt it at all. I just washed the engine bay last weekend with all purpose cleaner and a light spray with the hose (I did wrap the exposed electrical connectors though). Dried with a leaf blower. Came up looking like new.

Same with the V8V. That's why the umbrella is in the boot I suppose.

So some of you hang out in EC3 wine bars huh? I am normally in Aldersgate Street EC1 and always up for some vino smile

George H > Mine look rusted just like that too. The pulleys are obviously not the same kind of alloy that most of the other parts are made from. I'm told that it's normal.

v8woollie > Yes, a hose. But I did say "a light spray". High pressure could lead to problems.

It wasn't the pressure, it was the use of a hose during a hosepipe ban. I got reprimanded by a chap down the road for getting the hose out last weekend and I wasn't even using it.

Was in Browns (NO NOT THAT ONE!) in Old Jewry for lunch. Then The Globe in Moorgate. Office in City Road / Finsbury Square

Sorry, I misunderstood. Over here on the "Wet Coast" of Canada we're fortunate that water restrictions are usually in force only in June/July/August, and even then usually only limit watering the lawn.

I've been following that discussion on 6speed, and for those that have a choice, garage will lways be better, but I'd expect the rain to drop into the engine and go straight out of the bottom.

Motorcycles don't have a problem getting their engines wet, so its not necessarily a problem
Exactly - it actually drops on to the cam cover and then straight back off on to the shear plate below.

What's that thing I posted then and why's that rusty?

Neil/Woolie, sounds like the basis of a plan. I am in Fenchurch St and despite being a DB9 man, can still get around without a bath chair.

Any views?

Not too familiar with the V12 but that looks like the crank pulley.
It is going rusty because your car cover locks the moisture in, keeps it humid, you can also get condesation as the car stays cooler than the ambient temp (seen it on mine once or twice)
You need ventilation to drive the moisture off.
It's the same reason your brolly handle is corroding and you have algae on the roof.

if its similar to a V8V there•s a technique. lift the boot lid a few inches, allow water to drain off then fully open. I just see it as an endearing quirk of the fantastic design / shape. Pommehogster has had secondary drain channels installed under the lip on each side. Can't remember where he got them fitted though.

OK , Moortgate is about 10 minutes amble from me. Is Old Broad St a step too far for you?
