If the older Bluetooth System in a 2006 Vantage is able to pair with an iPhone4S........what the hell was the upgrade for in 2008 ??

Were they trying to connect to NASA ?? smile

Yes mate! From a previous thread:-

For anyone still having problems this is how to do it (I was using an iphone 4S on a 2006 Vantage):-
Put the iphone Bluetooth into search mode.
Tell the car - Pair phone
Car tells you to put phone into search mode and then type 1 2 3 4 as the bluetooth code.
Phone will see the car - will list as Aston Martin. Put code in
It will then fail! Car says pairing failed.
But you now have the iphone recognising the Aston Martin bluetooth, so on the phone, select "Aston Martin" on the bluetooth menu. It will bring up the boxes to put in the passcode. Put in 1 2 3 4, but do NOT press pair on the phone yet.
Tell the car - pair phone. Then immediatley press the Pair button (top right) on the phone.
Should then pair straght away.
Have checked and phone is always then recognised on startup
Thanks Neill,

Wiil try this in the morning.........

Incorrect. My MY06 DB9 steering wheel buttons control the audio in addition to the phone.
Do you mean the volume of the phone Bluetooth speaker via the audio (which it should do) or that you can actually change audio tracks and alter the volume of the stereo even when not using the phone?
The latter

Interesting, with A.M. nothing is 100% straight forward and there are variances, which is why I like to follow-up any possible differences to ensure the guide is as accurate as possible - but I have double checked all the earlier owners manuals (06/06.5/07MY) and the official 08MY updates and they all clearly show that the pre-08MY cars "should" only offer control of the phone volume while the 08MY+ add audio volume, track/mode changes etc, along with a new Bluetooth module that can be updated to meet new phone types as they are introduced.

Edited to add...........
Can I ask, have you got Voice Recognition on your Bluetooth set-up? Have you had any warranty work or updates applied to either the steering wheel or phone/Bluetooth options or audio?

After some proding by Grant, I revisited the steering wheel controls on my DB9 (MY2006). They DO NOT control the audio. Obviously, the explanation for the misremembering is that all DB9 drivers are verging on Alzheimers from too much slipper wearing and pipe smoking.

Apologies for the unecessary obfuscation and calling into question the veracity of Grant's tome.
