Absolutely unbelievable
Discussion
Some will have seen my earlier post about my car pulling to the left. On Mikey K's advice I contacted Chris @ Center Gravity who is here in the midlands. Left the car with him yesterday morning and got a call about an hour later after he had chance to drive it. Basically he said it was all over the place and did not instill any confidence when driven on "B" roads. Now I just thought this was a characteristic of the car but in hindsight I could see where he was coming from. After 4.5 hours of tinkering he called me last night to say she was ready.
Off I went this morning to collect the beast. Chris insists that you go out for a test drive which we duly did. Chris drives first and that was quite scary as it had been pissing down all night. Then my turn. As the title suggests I was absolutely amazed, what a transformation. The point of this post I suppose is the importance of set up. Many will say this is obvious but I wonder how many actually have it done. Guys and Girls you could be missing out if you don't.
As usual to the mods I have nothing to do with Center Gravity but am bloody glad I have found them

One of the cheapest and best "mods" next to some decent driver training I have used both and would use CG over 9Meister.
CG are suspension experts and set the car up to your tastes hence the price
9Meister are Porsche specialist and tend to set the cars up to the OEM data (Robin charged me £72 for my S2000 a while back)
But if you want cheap and reliable in the NW Luna's fav place (Buckley Tyres) is good and charges £50 flat rate.
ETA
These guys are further South and very good

And obviously TDi for those with Orange skin

How badly was it pulling to the left? My V8V pulls on some roads and not on others and when it went back to the dealer they took it out and said it was the usual susceptibility to cambers and not a geometry issue. They checked alignment and said it was handling much like every other V8V they have driven. Always that nagging thought that it maybe could be better though Off I went this morning to collect the beast. Chris insists that you go out for a test drive which we duly did. Not that I noticed It is the fact that is doesn't pull on all roads that makes me wonder if mine is just camber sensitivity. If it was always pulling left then surely that would point more to geometry set-up (or am I totally wrong, like my wife always says I am!).bogie said:
its amazing how many cars leave the factory from new out of spec, and subsequently never get put right for years until they get really bad
having the geo setup properly or at least checked, should be part of a yearly service IMO
I get it checked when I do tyres as the geo guys can "read" the old tyres for issues with the suspension.having the geo setup properly or at least checked, should be part of a yearly service IMO
