I'm not a million miles away from McGurk's and will be contacting them. They've got a couple of cars that look close to what I'm after.
McGurks come highly recommended and Jon has a real passion for his motors.....plus he is now set up for fixing any niggles and servicing the vehicles - just that extra peace of mind Hope you don't mind me piggybacking your thread Giles as we are both in the same position
I looked at a black 05 DB9 at Sam Hall Cars in Harrogate yesterday (an individual dealer that sells Astons from his home premises). It was lovely but a little higher mileage than others at the same price (54k miles). He mentioned a 6 month warranty and that it cost him £1500. I guess from what I am hearing of warranties that I'm better off forgetting the warranty and asking him to knock £1500 off the price of the car!
From what I'm reading here and on other threads, the little extra peace of mind that a dealer gives may be worth the extra, but who knows? I have bought three older Ferraris, the last a Testarossa without a blink, but reading some of these DB9 threads is making me very wary.

burriana, I bought my Vanquish from Sam Hall with his supplied Warranty which is with a well know and much maligned outfit. Had to have the steering rack overhauled. Had the work done by Bridge Mill who use the same guy for the work that Aston use. Warranty paid 75% of the bill so I've no complaints about buying that way. And I'm very pleased with the car.I looked at a black 05 DB9 at Sam Hall Cars in Harrogate yesterday (an individual dealer that sells Astons from his home premises).
