The link below will take you to the latest posts. Unfortunately you cannot link to the topic. It is a well known problem of the way the AMOC site works.

Just had a peak - some serious work needing doing there, and well worth a second opinion from a Specialist Indy.

Not sure on the exact rules but OP will need to move his posteria to get the MOT stuff done smile

Even I was compelled to post. I just don't understand the blinkered 'dealer at any cost' mentality. Even when being told he's being ripped off, he still can't see how to not get it fixed at a dealer!!

I suppose many don;t understand that there are indies!

I used to have my rotten old Sciroocos fixed at VW main dealers, the bils would often be in excess of the car's value frown

Even more funny... some of these places get offended when refered to as main STEALERShehe

My car had a leaking front cover... repaired under warranty, and it is a big job becuase the subframe has to be dropped to get the front pully off....
If my car hadn't been under warranty it would still have the leak, because for what it was, it wasn't worth fixing... Not at over £2ksmile

I had that oil weep fixed under warranty to years ago

Ive got another issue now - coolant sensor gone ...its a £20 part and 10 mins to replace

no doubt at a dealer thats £150 for "diagnostics" and min 30 mins labour @ £75 ..all + vat so a £20 job becomes £280 pretty easily

no wonder some cars get the old internet reputation of being "expensive to run" if people are prepared to go to dealers and pay these prices ...but you get to keep the "FAMSH" for resale you know ...thats got to be worth thousands ...right ? wink

hope the poor bugger gets his car to a good independant .....

Fundementally as a low volume, some parts will be expensive but that looks scandalous.

My car was purchased new from the same dealer and serviced from new there - none of the bills seem to have silly bits on them. Hopefully this is an isolated case.

Poor sod.......

That quote is just pathetic... No wonder most people are sourcing indipendant AM specialists to care for your P&J

I can see that the oil leek is a massive job as have seen this being done, a lot of work envolved. But £400 for wiper blades... hehe Maybe the person writing the email was so scared and nervous of sending the bad news they accidently added an extra 0 on that one...... biggrin

Are you sure about that? I think there are quite a few bits that need to be removed to get at them...

Some of the parts prices are a little absurd though.

I'm replacing the number plate lamps as cracked.

Aston Martin £81.25
Ford Main Dealer £10.50

I wonder if there is a parts wiki list out there somewhere, if not would be quite handy..?

Looks like this story is heading towards a happier ending.
Looks like a few missunderstandings and assumption along the way.
No surprise there then!
