Hi folks,

yesterday we had the first TUEV inspection on our Vantage V8 and the inspector did not like the beam from the left main light. Before we bought the car from an Aston Martin dealership they assured that they were adjusting the lights for us. Either they did not do it at all or did a bad job. Or third possibility not be possible at all.
So simple question can I adjust the main lights to make a beam for continental left hand drive traffic, and if so how do I do it ?

many thank for your help !

It's a fiddly job and involves taking off the front wheel to get to the back of the headlight. Essentially there's a lever deep inside the housing that you just flip up to create a flat beam. It won't make the beam 'kick up' on the RHS though, just create a flat beam - which is generally sufficient for MOT/TUEV.

I lived in Germany for 4 years, although I bought and fitted LHD lights to have the 'kick up' on the correct side. Coming to think of it I've still got the lights gathering dust in the garage if you're interested!! I know my way round a spanner so fitted myself - took about 3-4 hours for both, not an easy job.

Flat beaming is quite straight forward though if that's all you're after...

Before I went on my foreign jaunt last month, I popped into my local dealer to ask about adjusting the light beams on my 9.

I spoke to one of the technicians, who said there is a panel in the wheel arch that had to be removed, then the rear of the light could be adjusted. Then quoted a hour and a halfs labour, to adjust, and the same to readjust the lights back for UK driving.

I declined their kind offer :-)

Hi rich,

sounds good would be interested in the LHD lights, better than collecting dust in your garage.
