Daytime Running Lights
Discussion
Alot on here tend to run with the sidelights turned on I think. There were several on the recent NW meet that did exactly that during the run on Saturday - the 'Friday 5' all had our headlights on for the whole day, we were making 'swift progress' and were in very changable conditons all day so lights on was the best option. The guys that take the PDC at Millbrook drove from NP with their headlights on and I seem to remember that it was something they felt was a worth while practise. Not a 'look at me' more a 'be aware of me' thing to make trafic aware of your prescence - especially useful when making 'progress'
I'm not a big fan of DRL. Soon we will be like the US where 80% of cars have their headlights on, regardless of conditions. Fog included. Just the other day I was driving in fog in upstate NY and the same ratio applied - 20% didn't have any lights on whatsoever. Some of the cars had headlights (or DRL?) on, but no rear lights at all. Very convenient for foggy conditions, I don't think.
Also, I think they make bikes stand out less.

Hmm interesting, they stay on when ignition turned off on my V12V. If switched to headlights then all go off with ignition but if on sidelights only then they stay on..odd oneJockman said:
Quick glance at the DB9 Manual tells me this facility is not available to me
I can confirm that it is not available to me either. Think I will stick to leaving my lights on position2 and that way they go off with the ignition.Whilst just having a fiddle about with my lights I find that the Homesafe does not appear to be working - but when I 'flash' my headlamps both my dip beams flash along with the mains. Was sure just the mains should flash on their own, could be why the homesafe is not operative. Will have to get it looked at on next service in June.
