I saw 1 AML on a white Vanquish a couple of weeks ago, driving through my sleepy Cambridgeshire village. I was in my V8V and managed to exchange waves. I assumed it was a factory car, I looked it up on https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ and the vehicle it was on was registered new on about the 5th of February. I've just checked again and it's now on a Bronze vehicle, registered new on 19th March. I'm not sure why the white Vanq still has it, I wonder if they forget sometimes which vehicle it's supposed to be on? The cars probably have trade plates in the boot anyway...
I think that was the car that Guy Martin ragged round the TT course......

AML 1 must be one of the most swapped plate on a car. I have no idea how they do it. Are there certain exceptions for manufactures re the DVLA?
They must have some dispensation ... it's quite time consuming for us lesser mortals to change plates, especially now local offices have been closedmikey k said:

I wonder if this car might eventually appear for sale on a dealer forecourt (by then with a different registration number)? Perhaps there are very few UK white Vanquish cars, so it could become known.
Having had famous and skilled drivers, could that justify a premium price?

The last time I was in a hire car, I thrashed it from cold, laboured it, etc. I'm sure a journo car has a very hard life. I wrap my own cars in cotton wool. I wouldn't go near it.
I agree.
Of course, some prospective owners may not know before purchase what we now know,
particularly as a plate change will be involved.
If we ever welcome a new PHer who has bought a white Vanquish, shall we just let George say,
"I do like the colour"? -

But any car released from the AM "garage" will be through the dealer network with its usual Warranty. These cars are not Focuses and Astras. They are sports cars designed to be driven hard. If anything, and this has been said before, you may be at an advantage in getting a KX car due to the fact that possible little bit extra that went into building it because if it fails/bubbles etc etc with the journalist then its future is written in pen stroke.
I actually was quite happy when Works told me my car was a ex Factory car.

Tell that to who ever bought the metallic red S roadster KX plated car I saw at Wilmslow waiting for a new gearbox and drive shafts weeks in to their ownership I actually was quite happy when Works told me my car was a ex Factory car.

You could be right. Perhaps history repeats.
It is rumoured by the Aston Martin historians, that Lionel Martin often became a little ‘muddled', not only with registration plates, but chassis and bodies too.
You can find photos of this registration plate on more than one B&M racing car. I am sure it must have been transferred in the correct manner. Handy if you have built a batch of identical cars.
The AM 270 registration still exists, but when I last checked, unfortunately not on an Aston Martin.

I'm risk averse and mechanically sympathetic so hate the idea of owning a car I know the components have had a hard time on.
As much as AM "rework" them before the go to the dealer network they don't replace much as a precaution to prevent future failure.
That said my built to order S hasn't been fault free wither

I believe they own that plate and AM V8
Just been watching "saturday kitchen best bites" and an old clip of Keith Floyd came on, in the back ground was a Virage Volante with the reg AM V8.The picture quality wasn't too good, but I would have said it was in Silver Birch with a black hood.
