Just got back from a fantastic trip up to Scotland to experience some of the roads and scenery up there and thougth i'd share a few pics. Over the 1200 miles I saw only a single Aston, a 4.3 Vantage on the M6, they are either in hiding or missing out. Best roads i have driven to date, well at least some of them and the scenery is fabulous. Cant recommend it enough and look forward to taking the bike there in a months time, just hope it stays dry until then!

This last one i was messing about with in photoshop and quite liked the outcome

Rob, fantastic pics! I have a cottage booked on the Isle of Skye in July on the basis that it is pretty much as far as I can drive in the UK in the Aston from home wink - if you have any tips for roads / routes in that part of the highlands, I'd be much appreciative.

Cheers

No second bidding needed. Can barely wait for the empty miles of roads through stunning scenery. smile

Nice one Rob so give us a clue to picture one,was it your hotel if so whats its called it looks very nice.

What route did you take as I'm always interested in the scenic drives, like the route Mikey did in days gone by.

The cars looking as ever wonderful and I think you've converted me to Quantum.

I'll be keeping an eye out for it on the Broughtons for 'sale ads' from Monday after Rachel has convinced you into
their Lightning Volante............

I parked my car in that exact spot on Summer solstice 2011. Memories of empty roads, folks pulling over to let me by, golden eagles and other wondrous stuff. Scotland is great.

Quoting Rob from another thread that I think was meant to be posted here: (thanks for the tips! smile ) Cheers, Kris

"The best roads I found were the A832 (take the A9 out of inverness then the A835 to ullapool) then into the A896 passing through the torridon mountains and round to lochcarron, this was great fun once off the A9 and the 832 was wicked. That said it had nothing on the A830 from Mallaig to Fort William. If you go into Skye via the bridge then head 20 odd miles down to Armadale, you can pick up a 30 min ferry to Mallaig then it's just a brilliant road with next to nothing on it, I'll be doing it on the bike next month.

It's not a long road but if you find yourself near fort William, take the road around lochleven, it's empty and great fun, it's great for a short sharp blast!!

My last recommendation is the A828 just south of fort William down to Oban then the A816. It's much more fun than the A82 which can be a real bore in traffic which is usually the case. I'll be exploring further next month as I hear there are some lovely roads and great views onto Skye up near Applecross and the peninsula but also skye itself has some good roads further up.

Ed, The hotel in pic 1 is Cameron house on loch lomond which is really nice, great scenery, nice staff and some nice restaurants. Even has a seaplane parked out front! Can also recommend The lovat in Fort Augustus, it's sister hotel, The Torridon up near the Toridon mountains and finally The Lime Tree hotel in Fort William if anyone is interested, all lovely places! "

Thanks Kris for the geographic's I knew I recognised that Hotel from picture one,it's on my chosen mini Scotland tour I've
cobbled together.

For what it worth it goes like this.

Cameron House on Loch Lomond
Inverlochy Castle close to Fort William
Culloden House by Culloden
Ardoe House at Aberdeen
Dalhousie Castle around Edinburgh

So thats just over the 1000 miles for me.

Hi Rob - glad to see you had a good trip. We went up that way last May and would also recommend The Lovat, Fort Augustus. Also, you may not have realised, but everyone headed up to NW Scotland has to return with their own version of this photo: their Aston in front of Eilean Donan Castle smile

Ah sorry Molly, if only I had known! I didn't even pass it as we turned right and onto Skye, I should be able to offer one on a fireblade next month if that's any good? How was the A87 back to fort William, any good? Also if there are any other roads up there not to be missed, I'd love to hear about them!
