No problem at all.

It was nothing against you guys, it was just that the cost of parts, labour, the fuel to get there (and risk of it possibly needing recovery), hire car for 3 days and/or hotels and finding a free long weekend etc etc... As I'm down in Essex, it was just easier to pop it down the road- albeit the bill will be c£3k all in, I say hopefully smile
I understand the stack up of numbers you state and your decision making process, no probs.

For the forum i'm interested in making the 'consumable' clutch renewal cost transparent.

For 3k inclusive, the price excluding VAT is £2500. Minus £1500 parts = £1000 to fit / £100 p/h labour.

I forgot to mention that a franchised dealer will be able to get parts at -30% RRP, so the parts price to them is around £1050. If the price you state is 3k at franchised dealer, the value for the 'shop' is more like £1450 total on your job. I suppose that fact is irrelevant though because if clutch replacement was being carried out by indie, whatever franchised dealer the indie bought parts from would be taking a slice of the job (£450) from difference between their purchase price compared to sale price at RRP. What would be an eye opener is price OEM pays from supplier for clutch compared with price supplied to dealer network.

I like the fact you’re in favour of transparent pricing for the benefit of the forum, Mike.

Any chance of you producing a ‘Bamford Rose’ fixed price servicing costs version of below and posting it on your site or on your dedicated thread?

Publishing them would obviously be helpful to the users of this forum, wishing to use an Indi.

Thanks. Apologies if I’ve missed them on your site.
