I bought my 08 manual dbs with 6100 miles four years ago.I asked the Aston dealer to ring me if he ever got anything interesting in.
A few months later he rang to say he had an 08 dbs manual in black with 500 miles on,that they'd originally supplied. My dbs was running well so I didn't want to px.Shall I buy it and tuck it away I thought to myself, after all it would be a nice feeling owning such an example & maybe in 10-20 years it would turn a profit.I consulted the funstopper who pointed out that I "had enough bloody cars" so that was that.
Ah well he was asking 80k for it.

My funstopper said that 5 cars ago and I had 6 then haha.

Can you pm me who it was as I will buy that one!

Thx - Tony

Loving this thread. I've only just realised that for the first time ever I have a car that's holding its value - though my 12K miles a year is challenging that! But hell, it's such a blast to drive it would be sin not to use it daily! At 48K now..what will happen once I get to starship miles I wonder

I used mine to drive to the station today. They need to be driven (though, in the winter, I take the Rangie).

And this one has done less than 400 miles in 4 years so that sounds a bit odd.

I'll be using mine tomorrow to go to a client meeting on the south coast (I'll hide it!), then Thursday to Paris, Friday to Orleans and back on Tuesday. This is what it's for!

I do like the DBS but I don't get this fixation with them...sorry to say. I realise that will not make me popular on here and its only my view...I run an 8 speed Vanquish Volante which is in serious danger of becoming worth less than a DBS Volante.....compare and contrast please? eh?

I think you'll be fine. Doubt that the 8 speed Vanquish Volante will be worth less than the DBS Volante anytime soon...

I wouldn't feel threatened just because it might be worth more does not mean its a better car.

Ditto also remember DBS is almost 10 years old now and flagship at the time. Vanquish is the last ever flagship with a real N/A engine in it, will be increasing in price at some stage, maybe 10 years from now a similar thread will appear for Vanquish's!

At least for me, the DBS was a love at first sight machine, whereas the Vanquish was far from it. When I first saw a DBS on the dealer's showroom floor, I was shopping for a DB9 (which I eventually got). But that damned DBS (coupe) never left my imagination and it was all I thought about during my 2 years of DB9 ownership. As soon as prices had fallen sufficiently that I could make man math work I jumped on a DBS. There was not a single thing I didn't like about the DBS; it corrected everything that was a shortcoming on the DB9, and didn't create its own list of dislikes.

Vanquish was a hit/miss proposition for me when it was introduced. I test drove one and at that time thought that the perfect Aston for me would be a DBS body slid over a Vanq chassis. Over time, I have grown to really like the Vanq, both in and out, and now appreciate it as much as I do the DBS. Of course a lot of that has to do with the release of the DB11, which repeats the whole hit/miss I experienced upon Vanq release. Maybe over time I'll like the DB11 (when the DB12 is launched...), but for now the Vanq is the pinnacle.

I'll never tire of looking at my DBS and will never sell it, but the Vanq is indeed superior in every way from a comfort, driving experience, and 'noise' point of view. Will it ever be less on the used market than a DBS? I don't see how that could happen, unless the Bond effect is much stronger than I thought (and maybe with time it is, ala DB5 vs DB6).
