I was starting to clean the front nearside wheel today when I noticed that the bottom of the wheel arch and the sill are not aligned. The bottom of the arch is forward of the sill as shown here:

Is this something I can rectify? The other side is fine and there don't seem to be any other panels misaligned, or is this something that happens with a handbuilt car (i.e. within tolerance)?

Let the pcensoreds taking commence biggrin ( and not it isn't because I am parked on a hill Peter smile )

The sill is damaged, you can see where it has been pushed up.
Probably caused by parking on a hill!

Definitely damaged.

Hill could easily be a contributory factor. (smile)

Something is clearly wrong with the tyre Simon, it still has the original nobbles intact and the outer edge tread isn't feathered??

How did I know the cause might be a hill smile

The sill doesn't look damaged so I assume hand made cars can have panels that don't align properly. Glad hand made suits don't suffer from this!

Mike, good point on the tyres although in my defence thy have only done 500 miles from new. I certainly found a new limit of grip a few days ago on a sharp right hand bend tbat i thought i was taking way too fast Amazing how it clings on to the road. I shall do my best to get then properly worn in smile

It looks damaged in your photo! You can see where it's pushed inwards and upwards. However, I don't think this would alter the sill's fore/aft alignment.

In the interests of keeping you " livened up" if the sill isn't damaged then I think it must be your chassis misaligned, probably by hitting a pothole. It certainly looks very very expensive and I did a sharp intake of breath when I saw it.

Probably wink

There, do you feel livened up a bit?

Well in that case I will live with it until I can bear it no longer and then use the excuse to get some N400 sills fitted.

I would just think the sill has been off at some point and not been correctly aligned when refitted. It also looks like the fastener holding the sill on the car could have been over torqued distorting the sill panel slightly.

Could be the case. The actual sill has no scuffs or scratches so maybe it has been badly aligned. I am going to undo the bolt at the front and see if that helps me to get it better aligned.
