Hello folks,

I am thinking ahead (by many months) about winter wheels / tyres. I want to pick up some 18" wheels and pop on some winter tyres for Nov - Feb, is it possible to pick up some 18" wheels from say a DB7 or DB9 to put on the car over the winter? Or are the offsets all over the place?

Thanks for your collective wisdom!

Kris

DB7 wheels don't fit new Astons; different bolt circles.

DB9 never came with 18" wheels, but the Vantage did, so you could pick up a set of those.

I assume you have a V8 Vantage?

DB7/Vanquish won't work as hubs are different, Jaguar offsets.

DB9s all have 19" wheels (except mine!) but are interchangeable with the V8V.

V8V had 18"s as standard so there would be unwanted sets.

For the same money, buy a winter snotter and have some 4WD fun whist keeping your Aston nice smile Might grab an old Cherokee myself this autumn...

I just showed thIs topic to my wife. She was surprised that the recommendation to someone wanting to purchase four wheels and tyres was to buy another car. It does seem incongruous that such a choice is a reality.

Having bought a Mini Cooper S for Aston Annie to use as a daily runaround, did we sell the P38 Range Rover to part fund it?

True - but a set of wheels / tyres might well be £1.5-2k so a purchase that can then be sold on to regain capital isn't a bad one. Sadly no room for a third car in the family, so it's either this or lay the car up for the particularly bad days. smile

I did run a "spare" car for a year - it was a 1992 Citroen ZX and was used for ferrying stuff to the tip - sold for £200 more than I paid as well, thus far cheaper than skips, although not much less unsightly.

My beater is an M reg Fiat Punto with 14,000 miles on the clock. Sadly worth a few hundred quid despite being a virtually new car. The wife's CRV does snow duty although the S4 was terrific in the snow. You can't beat the Quattro system.

Is that advert correct where it says a 4 litre engine producing 135 bhp?! rofl

At least I'd expect it to be reliable with that power output, my 1.4 Polo makes 50 more than it hehe

Also, I couldn't think of a company I'd like to buy a car from less than one called 'Bargain Carz 4 U' The text speak really inspires confidence in the dealer rolleyes

But could you buy a car from somewhere calling themselves "Carz 4 U"? No matter how cheap?

It'd be like having you hair cut at Permz M 8.
