Good evening all,
Would just like to say hello and thanks in advance for any info gratefully received. I'm currently in the market for a 56/07 vantage coupe and had a couple of questions.

1. Can the grille be replaced/swapped easily? I have seen a car with the bright-finish item and would prefer the standard darker type. Would a swap with another owner be an option?

2. Does the electric seat height adjustment only apply to the drivers side?

Also, if anyone has the above in tungsten or meteorite and thinking of selling then I may be interested. Cheers for now wavey

Hi Jeff, welcome to the AM forum smile

1. Not sure on how easy it is to swap the grill - but I think Aston Martin Bits sell grills for @250 used or @450 new. Most have the bright finish that I've seen on cars out and about.

2. Electric adjustment is driver and passenger as standard - I am pretty sure they do the same thing height adjust wise. Memory is an option, and is for both sides also.

3. Make sure you pick up a copy of the Definitive Guide to Gaydon era AM - there is a sticky with details at the top of the forum. £20 very well spent.

Cheers

Kris

Hi Kris, thanks for the reply.
I've got the aston guide book and it's been very informative, although i couldn't see anything about the specifics of the passanger side seat operation.
The reason I ask is because I looked at a car today and it was the first time i'd sat in the passenger side and tried to adjust it.
The grille thing sounds an easy enough problem to sort though.

Height adjustment is driver's side only (unless they changed it on later models?).

I suspect you'd be able to do a straight swap with someone for the grille.

If I were you I'd look for the right car, and not be too fussed which model year it is. Good luck in your search!

Hi and welcome, exciting time for you. My 2010MY car has height adjustment on both seats via buttons, although my wife still needs a booster cushion to sit on, bless her.

Re the grille, I'd recommend leaving the bright finish on and then following the lead of Jockman and just not wash it. That way it will soon be manky and you'll not tell the difference.

And Jockman, if I have your car cleansing habits mixed up with somebody else from here then I apologise in advance. Old age is a terrible thing but I'll worry about it when I find myself lingering and looking at DB9s in the dealers!

Ah, must just be earlier models that don't then. Mine's a 2006/55 and it's only the driver's seat.

As it had to be spec'd separately I suspect you'll struggle finding someone to swap with. I'd have a go at swapping one though. Looks OK on the difficulty stakes front.

It is on both sides BUT only for cars without the ISOFix option on the passenger seat. At least, that was the case on 07MY cars. It was probably optional on 05/06 cars.

Very easy to change out the grill....took me about 10 minutes to remove and 10 minutes to put back on. Its easy to figure out....just 4 allen screws and 2 flatheads if I remember correctly

The passenger side seat operation.
Hi Gettoff, thanks for buying the guide, the passenger side height adjustment was an option on the Vantage (standard on DB9) until the 08MY when it became standard, but it could also be deleted after that date as an option - for fitting Isofix...... so always best to check the car you are viewing.

Edited to add, if you check the Vantage 2008MY changes in the guide you will see the passenger seat control change listed.
Cheers
G

Thanks everyone for clearing that up, the car was a september 06 so a 56 model year with the newer style seats, the adjuster didn't move at all so I suspect its not fitted on that side.
As far as the grille goes, not washing is an option smile but if I do end up buying a car with a twinkly one then the removal procedure sounds straightforward.
I think the car I looked at was a members on here going by the PH sticker in the rear side window.
