V12V Bamford Rose upgrade - cat is out of the bag!!

Have you kept the standard DBS/V12V inlet manifolds or have BR come up with something more exciting? I know they have the design ready to go as it is to be fitted to my 6.5.
We have kept the standard inlets, there was no benefit to be derived and in fact a dis-benefit in their opinion. johng39 said:
UPDATE. UPDATE
Err Mike just pointed out that this is currently still on standard cats. 200 cell cats being fitted Monday now. Expecting 575 bhp bit of confusion between us........
so have i got this right... the intial improvements were JUST on manifolds and close coupled upstream cats...ie the great big lumpy bit that we saw at the BR open day...if so then FFS what ever is it going to be like once the 200 cells are fitted...mate we need a new word...EPIC is going to be so insufficient Err Mike just pointed out that this is currently still on standard cats. 200 cell cats being fitted Monday now. Edited to add...however can you sleep at night in anticipation of Tuesday!!

Presumably 6·5 litres is not the limit with your engine. Is the One-77 engine at 7312cc, a V12 with increased bore?

Yes it's based on the 6 litre V12, but I'd guess it wouldn't be cheap to go to 7.3L. Is the One-77 engine at 7312cc, a V12 with increased bore?
Here is a good read on the One-77 engine: http://www.enginetechnologyinternational.com/downl...

It was the limit with my current crank though, and regrinding another would have been crazy-expensive. Happy to build it with all the other components as they are mostly off the shelf (forged pistons etc) but a crank from scratch would have been scary...
It'll be a 650bhp DB9. Probably adequate
My current 522bhp certainly is NOT adequate any more, not now! The Cockney Blagwagon is uncatchable!

Yeah, piece of cake.......... Might as well knock out 12 new rods, and pistons whilst they're at it....
Well a crank is only a few off centre circles on a main shaft? Not exactly difficult for any skilled grinder with the right equipment to knock up. What sort of a tolerance would a crank be made to? I doubt it's microns is it? More likely 0,0Xmm.How is Brands btw?

Pretty good to be fair......the tension is building nicely, especially in the Supersports 600Really good atmosphere here today.....with the is it gonna rain? Will there be team orders?? Etc etc...
Bloody glad I'm in the van though....... It ain't warm out there.... But I've just cranked the heating up another degree... And am ready for bed....
Got a grandstand seat for tomorrow...
Then a 5 hour drive home tomorrow night
Oh, and my little matey Joe Francis from Chester has qualified on the front row......that lads doing really well.... Watch out for him No 40. He's not even 15 yet....

Surely the grinding of the crank wouldn't be that expensive? It's only a fairly basic process, and I guess the tolerances wouldn't be that tight? Maybe ±0,05mm?
No idea, I'm going with BR's advice here. Maybe they'd have to make many attempts and test runs to get it right? Costs soon mount... And it's good to have at least one constant in a project Rex Racer said:
A bit confused. Is the gain from the BR manifolds alone 58 bhp??? If so that's phenomenal!

Well exhausts only fitted at the moment, cams tomorrow. I will have some graphs for you all to see tomorrow also.
Headline numbers from the exhaust are +33BHP so from 507 to 540 BHP @ 7000rpm
Torque up 40Nm across the rev range & 591Nm @ 6100rpm

If I understand correctly, the improvement to 565bhp included new cams too ? Still mighty impressive.....George H said:

Message from Mike: Crank dimensions are indeed in microns to ensure the engine doesn't end up in a molten ball of metal. To go from 6.5L to 7.3L would need a change of around 5.0mm crank throw.
So there you go!!

Yep, it is manifolds & cams to get 565bhp. 200 cell cats fitted tomorrow and we are expecting 575bhp, but we will need to wait and see. Also if it is too loud, I may well just stick with the standard cats and ONLY 565 bhp . However, if the sound is not overly invasive then I guess I can suffer the extra power
