I'm surprised you say that. Moyo and Jana are fantastic and I really rate Moyo's food has always been one of my favourites dating back to his Hillbark days.

I'm sure there's nowt wrong with Nova - we use the same wine importer - but you must remember that Mr G had his wedding reception in the Michelin Star Fraiche so perhaps not the best person to ask for recommendations wink

Anyone mentioned London Carriage Works yet ?? It has been a while but great food with a fantastic wine list smile

Oh well in that case I'm not surprised nothing really comes close in the immediate area.

Not tried the Yellow Room at Hillbark since Moyo left, has anyone?

London Carriage Works is nice, it's also on the Taste Card scheme surprisingly - one trip there and you save more than the card costs.

Anything more than about £30 a bottle is wasted on me I'm afraid. Which I assume a good Beaune is at Hillbark!

I don't drink, but I've just spent 7 weeks in Beaune, and brought a load of the suff back for my next door neighbour in thanks for doing the lawn and keeping an eye on the place....smile

Non of it was £30 stuff, but he seemed very happy with ithehe

Craig actually had a few good Beaunes there, as well as a very extensive wine list and storage facilities.

Been a while but I'm sure he would open ANY bottle - even the £000 ones - if you wanted a glass of wine, so long as you paid a third? of the bottle price. Great way to try some good stuff !! smile

I've been down into the cellars, although I believe it's now some sort of spa down there now?

I remember there being some really special and dusty bottled down there.

I didn't warm to Craig or Lisa tbh but the rest of the staff at the time were brilliant.

I've eaten at Nova 3 times and the food is fine but not exciting.....He describes and try's to cook food like a M * chef but he dosnt have the skill......last time I was there I tried some weird flavoured ice cream which was awful......Marc Wilkinson however at Fraiche is world class., we have just booked for his menu black in early December........looking forward to the 23 course 4 hour meal !

Mind me ask what that set you back in comparison to the circa £200 it costs for 2 to dine off the regular menu?

We were there over the weekend
That museum you suggested was amazing really needs a whole day to do it justice!
We managed to escape wine free though.

No ladyboys here Phil smile

I didn't realise you just observed ladyboys though instead of partaking. I had you down as someone who partakes tongue out

Probably not if you think Nova is fine dining!! smile ........ I’m sure you could , I believe menu black is booked until March next year.....and the standard bookings are full until December......if you haven't eaten there you should try it.....he is an outstanding chef.....hence the reason for the star and now no 43 on the Sunday Times best UK restaurants.
Jockman eats there most weeks, and enjoys a bottle of Chateau Haut-Brion 58 or Chateau Latour…..sometimes both !!
