John..... I know it's your car and your money..... But that does sound like a bit of a rip off just for some leather...

Only a suggestion, so feel free to tell me to keep my nose out..... But have a look at Martrim.... They're well used to trimming high end cars, and I've seen some of there work, and its very high quality....

Gotta say, I agree. It's Aston's way of saying "we're doing you a favour by supplying this leather".
Is there no way of going direct to the tannery?

You can go direct to Bridge of Weir and order any AM colour. That's how I had custom luggage made to match my interior leather colour.
I'll second that - although if your colour isn't there, they won't make some up for you, you have to wait for Aston to do another batch. My Parliament leather took a YEAR to come into stock!!

@Luna, I like the look of Martrim. Do you have any personal experience with them?

No..... But, I've got 2 friends that have both had their TVR griffiths trimmed there..... One had the full job seats, doors, dash centre consol and carpets.....all done in black leather, with yellow piping, and stitching.... Looked brilliant and still does...

The other chap just had his seats done in a light grey leather, and again, they were spot on....

Sounds good. Presumably AM just farm the work out to people like this and then add their margin anyway?

I have also heard good things about mjinteriors.com.

4k+ for 2 seats is an utter piss take.

Check out AMDBSNick's link.

No, Aston do it themselves (factory and WS), which is at least something. A random main AML dealer though would just farm it out, yes.

My dealler has ordered the new covers covers from AM. I think they might come complete with some bolster padding as the original DB9 seats are a unique shape.

Ebay is your friend, two red DB9 seats for £2,200 or set of orginal AM leather trims for £500 (but they are black and not Iron ore)

For the price you're paying I'd expect Kylie Minogue to be sat naked in one, and Kate Beckinsale in spandex in the other!
