May have missed something here but the new DB9 has DBS engine output (510bhp) a Virage body and old DBS bootlid . As it now includes the Carbon brakes it is basically the old DBS at about £50k cheaper ? The only thing it hasnt got is B&O as standard? Surely this will hit DBS prices ?
Actually it's superior to the outgoing DBS; has much more torque as standard and this is the new type engine (as fitted to 310quish but detuned) with VCT and knock sensing - expect better economy and performance all-round!

It makes it look a positive bargain wink I wonder if this is the start of a new pricing policy on new order cars with less discounting? and less dealer orders?

This would be my choice. Bridgwater Bronze with a Falcon Grey interior. The 700-watt Aston Martin Premium audio system with Dolby would be good enough for me, but I'm disappointed a carbon fibre fascia isn't in the options list.

It does look like a good package wink, basically the 012MY DB9 just wasn't selling as it has been around since 2004 and there are plenty of great value quality used cars out there that look the same as a new one, so spending £120K+ on a new one was tough call!

Meanwhile the Virage wasn't selling either, mainly because the price was too high, particularly in view of the new Conti V8's available at £27k less (different beast I know but still high status quality car), also it wasn't a full fat flagship DBS.

So this seems a sensible move by Aston, (I don't think all new DBS buyers will suffer as there were/are some great deals), the new DB9 may not have the carbon fibre body panels of the DBS (so weighs 45kg more) but it does have a big chunk of extra torque and dual VVT, along with the three stage ADS (big benefit when cruising!) and the same awesome ceramic brakes. It is a much better drivers car than the Conti and bang on the money now. There has never been anything wrong with the Virage looks IMO, just a shame Aston didn't wait to launch it, but then that's easy to say in hindsight!

Meanwhile Aston have kept the new interior and VH-4 package exclusive to the Vanquish (for the minute!) to justify the step up, etc........ NEXT I think the Rapide will get the more powerful engine and 3-stage ADS... it's hard to keep up with A.M. at the moment biggrin

Just noticed the interior carbon pack in the options list, comprising of fascia, paddles and door pulls. I am surprised the update didn't stretch to an electronic parking brake as in the Rapde.

This car is going to be a fantastic thing to own. Elegance and DBS+ performance.

To be better than this the Vanquish II must be some vehicle.

Agreed. The more you look at it, the more you can see what a leap it is from the previous DB9/DBS.

Wonder why they called it 'DB9'? The changes here are as significant as DB5 to DB6 for example!

Probably because DB10 could have similar issues to the DB8 - I.e. people thinking its a V10 instead of V12. I'd say there aren't enough changes to go to DBX either. I hope they use DBX for their next model though.
