Wondering if anyone has had similar. I've only had a the car a couple of months (2008 4.3 roadster sportshift) You might be interested that car had new clutch fitted immediately before I bought it (17.5k miles) - after 1000 miles, the new hydraulic release bearing (?) let go big style spraying fluid everywhere, over exhaust (spectacular) & stopping any gearshifts, so basically stalled. AM have just replaced again under parts warranty - that however is an aside.

It lives outside, so gets wet. three or four times I've got in, pulled out the seatbelt only to find it is (literally) dripping wet. I've checked water drains (ex MB SL owner so well versed in that area!) for bootlid & tonneau - all seem to work. Carpet behind driver's seat appears completely dry & no misting up. I wash it regularly & this does not seem to cause any problems. The only set of circumstances is water on bootlid that sheet off when I open it, hence checking the drains but probably a red herring.

The rear park assist went doolally last week - going off with ignition on only (engine off) & making strange noises when driving forward - varied all the time so I took it to the dealer on Friday and of course it wasn't doing it when I got there. However they hooked it up to the diagnostic & told me the module had become a bit insular, ie the car could no longer even see it. Apparently it lives behind the driver's seat (as obviously does the seatbelt), so it's going in next week to diagnose.

I don't believe in that many coincidences, but having just spent an hour with tonneau propped open, peering down where seatbelt reel is, I can see nothing.

So, apologies for lengthy post, but has anyone else experienced similar & if so, how was it diagnosed & cured?

Many thanks in advance
David

IIRC a DB9 volante owner had similar problem
It was traced to a blocekd drain causing the enclose for hte belt to get flooded and water generally finding other mischiefs
I'm not a fan of cars living out side for these sorts of reasons

David,
Did you get to the bottom of the water ingress problem?
I am taking delivery of a similar car this week and it will live outside on my drive.
So any advise would be welcome
Thanks
Alan

Apologies David,
I have just noticed your reply on my original post.
I am lucky in the respect that I am only 5'2" tall so the vantage interior size is fine.
My current car is a Boxster S Tiptronic, so I am used to sliding in and out.
Most of my daily 15 mile drive is motorway, so the Vantage will not spend a lot of time in stop start traffic.
I had a bad experience when I bought a Cayman S in 2010, i decided to go back to a manual car and severely regretted it
The clutch was a brute and at that time all of my daily drive was in stop start traffic, that coupled with the sports adaptive dampers which where also painfully hard, even in the non sport mode.
So I got rid of it after a couple of months and had to take the hit trading it in.
The test drive I had in the Vantage confirmed it is not as sporty as the Boxster S, but is more comfortable and did not seem as quick as the Boxster although a 20 minute test drive in an unfamiliar car is not a definitive comparison.
I suspect the sport shift needs plenty "learns" to kep the clutch as smooth as possible
Regards
Alan

Was it this one? (It's a pity the owner has stopped posting) http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

No you’re right. I like threads about ‘stuff in bits’ and owners who prefer to work on their own cars whenever possible, for the pleasure of it.

Google it, it’s there. smile

(I wish we had more of this type of thread: I mean how many threads do we need titled ‘Soho drinkies’?)

And we do pull things to bits during our drinkies - like the price of sundry items during a service biggrin
