My problem with the V12R is head room. The very well padded edge of the roof is so thick that my head bounces against it. Has anyone of you specced the hard backed racing seats and if yes - does that give you a bit more headroom than the sport seats.? I tested a V8R for comparison and was told that the V12R is identical. (I'm 6:3 tall).
V8 & V12 Rs will be identical for space

I have only ever had the 'hard backed racing seats' - just to add to the confusion, they are known as 'lightweight seats' whereas standard seats are known as 'sports seats'

I am just over 6' and have worn a full helmet with the roof closed which was snug, but doable - I have done a full day at both Silverstone & the ring like that

But the only way to be sure is to try a V8R with the lighweights.

Alwin/Silverspeed - did you clock how many of the V12VRs appeared to have lightweights ? It seems not many from what the pics so far have shown ? I understand why, particularly if heated seats are really important to the owner, but I could never go back to the 'standard' sports seat now...........
I have had lightweights in other cars and they are fantastic for support especially on track or B road blasts. The issue I had was my wife hated the hard sides and also wanted heated seats.. The Sport Seats aren't that bad - the frames are still made by Recaro and if adjusted correctly are as good as most seats around. It was a small price to pay to secure a fabulous car and I won't be tracking the car. I saw 5 Roadsters at the factory and I think two had lightweights.

Sorry, I don't know how may of the first V12VRs have lightweight seats.
I would have assumed most have, just like the regular V12Vs ?

I mean, for me this has never been a point of discussion, I love the lightweight seats in my V12V and V8VSR.
Also I need them to fit well... I am 6:4 and fit perfectly using the lightweight seats. A helmet is going to be a problem though.

The light weight seat take up is actually quiet low even on the V12 coupe
I have a set of CF heaters to put in mine but am holding back until Aston replace the passenger seat under warrtany frown

Not if you drop the roof :-)

That has the added benefit of creating a cooling system too !

Reccomendation within the user manual is that if you do track a roadster to have the roof down, otherwise the roll over hoops could be deployed (wheels off the ground) and your back window gets in the way.

Good point - though I've "got air" a few times in mine and never activated the roll bars

They don't usually allow that on the track, for safety reason :-(
I have been allowed once on Spa...

Very strange - every track day I've ever done in roadsters has been with the roof down!

stunning ! I must admit I don't always like the contrast of teh CF on the V12V and of course the R has even more CF but with that colour, it works really really well

Hi Ian - welcome home seems like you've been away for months!

A few things to do on mine including cherished transfer so thinking possibly early next week if not will be Friday due to work commitments mid week.

Absolutely thrilled with the car and that was in arrival condition so not valeted - even had food cover still on!

Just want to drive it now!

Just spoke to the local ventureshield fitter, who did my first one thru stratstone wilmslow, in preparation for mine which may now be delivered this side of Xmas

I said 'you won't have done one of these - they are only building a few'

He replied 'I'm off to Stratstone Derby to do one tomorrow !'

I think it's your Ian ?

We are both having the same kit done although I'm asking him in addition to look at the windscreen rails and also what Gaydon are doing to the tonneau cover these days - they used to fit a strip where the hood meets the cover, which I didn't think looked great but I've an idea they fit nothing at all now. 'Delete film' is also apparantly no longer an option at the factory. If nothing is there, I'm thinking maybe getting the whole tonneau cover done
