Just spoke to the local ventureshield fitter, who did my first one thru stratstone wilmslow, in preparation for mine which may now be delivered this side of Xmas
I said 'you won't have done one of these - they are only building a few'
He replied 'I'm off to Stratstone Derby to do one tomorrow !'
I think it's your Ian ?
We are both having the same kit done although I'm asking him in addition to look at the windscreen rails and also what Gaydon are doing to the tonneau cover these days - they used to fit a strip where the hood meets the cover, which I didn't think looked great but I've an idea they fit nothing at all now. 'Delete film' is also apparantly no longer an option at the factory. If nothing is there, I'm thinking maybe getting the whole tonneau cover done
No, that's Graham's car that he is doing. Mine is in the SW where there are no approved ventureshield fitters and getting it done is proving somewhat interesting. Mine will come home without film on and I will sort it out later. Clearly aware of the dangers but just want to collect it.I said 'you won't have done one of these - they are only building a few'

I may be in the position of having it delivered to the dealer immediately before Xmas, in which case detailing & film fitting pre new year will be awkward so I'll have a similar decision. I hope I have the willpower to get everything done before delivery to me, even if it means I can't use the car between xmas & NY when I'm not working..........

Takes A LOT of will powerI left mine for 3 weeks for the paint to harden up then had it machine polished/corrected and detailed before getting the VS applied - that was hard but worth it, its paying dividends now 9k miles on and still cleaner & tidier than when it came out the factory

What did you do about the wax from the detailer mikey ? Did it get put on and taken straight back off, or no wax on the areas to be protected ?
It didn't go on in the first place and we had to clean of the stuff the factory & dealer smeared all over it Once the film was on it all got two coats of Zaino Z2 as a final stage sealer and the wheels got 3 coats of Collonite Insulator Wax
Both are still going strong after 9k miles
Once AM have finished fixing the issues and BR have laid hands on I may strip it all off and redo it over the winter

the detailer obviously has to do his job first as I don't want film going on top of bodywork that's not been corrected
I don't want him to part wax the car pre-film as that is obviously a nightmare, so I'll ask him not to wax at all, but that is half his job ! It then means I have to have him visit again to wax post-film.......as I say, tough decision............

Leave it 3 weeks to properly harden off
Get ALL the wax, sealers etc cleaned off
Get the paint corrected
Get the VS put on
Then get it ALL sealed
It makes it sooo much easier to keep clean and properly protected
Takes some self control but you can do it
