Anyone testdrove the new Vaquish ?

A client that I'm coaching atm has his on order. Been quizzing him about it all week. Currently has a V8V almost identical to mine, hence our chat about AM.
Apparently he was invited to purchase 2 years ago? And delivery is expected in 6 months.

Has he test drove it?
No.

Neither have I.
But if anyone buys one I'd be happy to change that statement!

I thought it was a fantastic GT car that was quiet enough to lose your license for you.... It is fast but with no drama and the cabin area is a much nicer place to be than the current crop of cars. As I said, not for me though as it has the wrong gearbox, still a very, very good car.

Is it not a revised version of the auto-st manual?
So basically a manual box with paddle shift change?

Theoretically a works service upgrade could allow for a stick to be fitted?
Or will this be saved for the 'S' version coming out a year later? .....(oops sorry its not an Apple product!)

No it is an automatic box with Torque Converter, not and automated manual.

It is very good for an auto and changes down / blips the throttle.... BUT it is still an auto.

Apparently ZF just can't make enough of them and they have more important clients than AML, who are not exactly known for paying their invoices on time

WS converted the Vanquish, but the box was already a manual, they just removed the paddles and added a stick and pedal and some trim. Would be tough to get the beloved 6spd Graziano in there... But maybe they will, we can but hope!

Drove it the other day and agree fully with John's earlier feed back. Its nice, quiet, quick and has a very direct steering. It is less floaty and has less under steer. The track setting is the best for the road and not too hard. The gearbox is a bit lazy but I could not fault it other than that. The cabin is more roomy but has lost a bit of its edge. I am not a great fan of the blisters in the leather and the middle console looks outdated already. The dials are almost the same as before - so still impossible to read whereas the digital read out is clearer with more pixels. The seats are too wide and feel less supportive (for a narrow frame) and the squared 1-77 steering wheel requires a bit of getting used to but is nice to hold. The car is very well put together so there are no squeaks and other noises such as the fuel pump in the DBS. Probably against public opinion I found the exhaust noise to be intrusive. Its great if you are outside but inside the cabin it is tiring.

It is nice but did not float my boat. It lacks a manual gearbox version and I would have liked to see a hatch with a load through facility because the rear seats are useless anyway. The boot is deeper and more roomy but I am no golfer so couldn't care about whether it takes 2 golf bags or not.

I reckon the new 510hp DB9 is the more attractive of the two and they should have directed more of the marketing spend towards the DB9 launch.

I concur, the new DB9 is a brilliant car and costs £50k less. The refinement, steering and brakes were eye openers during my drive last week.

If only they offered the new DB9 with a true manual, I would consider it. I think it looks gorgeous. The Virage should have been the new DB9 from its inception.

Also, putting a gear lever on the Vanq II would require a redesign of the center console where it meets the waterfall center stack.
