I honestly think this is the best news that we could have hoped for. Now we will see some action at Gaydon.
Think I shall go to the pub tonight for a few beers to celebrate.

George when there is something so important to celebrate, work must come second to the pub.

Judging by how vulgar and ostentatious most American cars are, I'd be more concerned what they know about styling instead of what they know about supercars.
Oh Georgie,

You have been watching too many old Starsky and Hutch movies, those ostentatious land yachts are things of the past. 70% of new car in Cali are imports, That new Mondeo that you all love the look of so much was mostly Designed in, and is already on sale in the US.

"Ostentatious American cars".........said the man with chrome bits all his convertible Aston Martin and a toy VW as a "second" Car (oh no sorry the VW is your partners..... yeah, right wink ) Quality.

Indeed. But I don't get paid when I go to the pub so I try to keep it to nights only!

I'm not on about cars that are on sale in America.... I'm on about cars designed there - Mustang, Camaro, Corvette etc. if you see any of them next to a European car they look ostentatious and vulgar. Oh, I don't like the Mondeo either. What's wrong with chrome bits (since they're OEM) too? Maybe I should get black ones and pretend I'm a gangster whilst actually looking like a complete wker? Or perhaps I should go for the complete wker look and go full American and fit 22" chrome wheels to my car rolleyes

I don't have a partner either I'm single so I don't quite get your little joke? Plus my Golf is most likely getting changed tomorrow. I've had it one week and realised I hate diesel. So it's looking likely it will be an Audi S3 as my daily car.

Hello Boys, I am a bit confused .... confused everyone talks about Merc taking over, but the TV said it's an Italian group that are investing £150m.

So it's the Italians ....... !

Will we have the DB9 Enzo ? the Vantage Gran Tourismo ? Or perhaps the Vanquish Diablo ? eekeekeek

My bad, I'd thought I'd read that the VW was you partners, but if you're actualy big enough to owning that shopping trolley yourself then fair play. Ergo, I don't think you need to change your wheels to look like a complete wker.

By definition bright work such as chrome that serves no Function is ostentatious. I have no prolem if you are now describing my black car now as having a gangsta look instead of a footballer look as before. I understand that your automotive understanding is rather limited so I'll cut you some slack concerning those comments. I prefer to think that my car has evolved to a more a contemporary exotic look ftom the olde world 1970s MG blingy chrome look that your convertible has,

Nothing ostentatious of vulgar about my Mustangs either BTW. 5.8L Supercharged 662 HP Shelby leaves my Aston for dead over any distant.

No I'd say your car has evolved to create a 'nouveau riche' look rather than a modern one. I could see some arabs driving that around Knightsbridge. And that's not a good thing. Plus footballers car, gangster style.... none of these things are good. None of them are renowned for classy, tasteful cars!

Also that Mustang is one of the most vulgar and ostentatious cars I've ever seen. Hideous! It might be fast but it doesn't change my perception of it. If you drove that anywhere but the US you would look a complete knob.

Anyway, I now no longer own the VW. I've replaced it with an extremely chavvy Audi S3 in bright orange! So feel free to criticise that. It's certainly ostentatious! smile

If you take into account it's highly geared with falling revenue, diminishing sales and cash pile then the position was only going to deteriorate.

Without the full details of the deal it's all balls really. No doubt the new partner hopefully offers strategic strength and benefits and not just a cash injection.

One thing is for sure the new partners haven't over paid for their shares.

Oh dear George, that colour!! Resale value? O dear. I remember years ago watching a Siera in this colour going around and around the auction halls. They could not give it away!

I was fed up of the bland, dull Golf so I went for something the complete opposite! It's fairly quick though, it surprised me. 270bhp and 4WD cool

Just a shame I bought the Golf 1 week ago and then sold it straight away.... a nice loss on that grumpy

i like the mustang actually. terrific motor in it, bullet proof and cheap to run. they dont have roundabouts in the states so they are fine. i run a 300 SRT8 and i have now done 80k in it and trouble free and cheap to run. unlike the astons i have owned and currently do.
i just picked the aston up from a service and the bill was way over a grand. doubt i have spent that on basic service bills for the yank tank in all the time i have had it. thats seppo cars for you though.

as regards the audi, oh my eyes.

You may know the following, but here is my opinion.

It depends how you value a company, and whether you are a business investor, or a collector of businesses.

A successful business investor should be able to obtain an annual return of at least 10% (combination of income and company value gains). The easiest way to fail though, is to overpay when you buy.

Business investors would base values on (a) what the future increase in the company value might be, and (b) what the regular income return on their investment might be.

The valuation of a business might be 10 times the annual profits, or where a company is growing profits quickly, a higher multiple would be justified.

With Aston Martin, they do seem to have required regular injections of money to keep going, so that would be very worrying to many business investors.

If you are a collector, none of this applies. You just pay what you need to.

I agree with your first paragraph, but puzzled by your second. What future profits growth do you envisage?

i am pleased that Mercedes might be involved. They do a nice 2.0 Diesel engine. Reliable, economical and it has a manual option so pretty sporty.
