Er..... you could get a decent bike for half of that! (waits for George to make some disparaging remark about cost/cyclists sleep)

Quite why anyone would pay in effect £10000 for a debatable quality aston martin frame defeats me.
The combined worth of all the rest of the bits draped off it do not justify any spend. Non disk brakes/wheels. Old XTR. What's to like?

Not only that, you're going to look like some gullible bell end turning up to a ride on one of those!

A few threads on this on a number of forums smile

It's not being sold as a cutting edge bike, just a collectors piece, the ultimate Aston tat for the price of a tatty DB7.

But it's not being sold full stop, it's has been up for months...

Slightly cheaper and less embarrassing to be seen on than a Cygnet.

These bikes are only really being sold to bring down Aston's average CO2 emissions. Just like the Cygnet whistle

Unfortunately since I suffered a seizure in Madrid just over two weeks ago a push bike is all I can ride!

That said I won't be tempted by either Aston branded bike. A nice Colnago is calling...

Debatable quality?
The Aston Martin Frames were made by the well known (in the cycling world)frame building company of Chas Roberts of Croydon, who, specialise in the manufacture of exceptionally high quality bespoke cycles and paint jobs that would have rivalled anything AM could have produced. At the time of the Aston Martin bikes their products were the choice of the élite racing cyclist.

The Aston Martin Frame was based on the company’s, at the time, very successful mountain bike used for racing known as the Dogs bks or the DB for short. This bike/frame has become something of a classic.

Aston Martin approached Roberts to build the bikes. The Idea being that any purchaser of an Aston Martin, presumably a DB7 could if they wished, have a custom made bike, finished in the colour which would match their pride and joy.

Each frame would have been unique as every purchaser was measured and the frame made to suit those measurements. Many of the components fitted to the bikes were modified by using lighter, exotic (at the time) materials.

At the time of manufacture the bike would have been priced at aprox £3.5k

The number of Aston Martin bikes produced was no more than 7

Bonhams sold a similar Aston Martin bike for £3120.00 in 2011

Perhaps the vendor of this currently for sale bike has some undisclosed history of the machine which could account for the rather steep asking price? Perhaps this bike was previously owned by a former director of AM?

Should any one want a similar bike to the one on offer but with the latest kit fitted then I am sure Roberts will oblige as the DB frame is still available to order.

Many people enjoy riding or driving conveyances from another era as can be witnessed at any car show, so are they all “bell ends” I think not, just enthusiasts.
