To my mind.... Monster performance figures are largely irrelevant outside of the pub....... Took me 3 hours to do 60 bloody miles the other week....
Wouldn't take that if you had a V12 tongue out

I looked at the standard Xkr and it is a very good car,but it had a serious flaw for me,the steering ....way to light ,feels like you are not connected to the front wheels ,also thought the interior trim very poor quality ...the engine ,noise and gearbox were excellent though ,also felt like I needed to be another 10 years older to drive it.

A chap at work has a standard XK, he loves it, drives up and down from London to merseyside in it most weeks.

But he looks at my DB9 and wants more... Next stop is an XKR for him, we're looking online last week... I would imagine he might flip to a DB9 in the end but price wise, a year old XKR can be had for high forties, same money sees him in an early DB9 though and he's someone who likes a newer reg number. Those Jags do not hold their value well.

I went a similar route in the last generation; S-Type, XKR, DB7. Fact of the matter is a Jag is simply not an Aston. Reviews may tell you the Jag is superior... But the Aston made me feel special every time, the Jag was simply a glorious, rapid and pleasant place to commute up and down the M4 smile

Slightly off topic but one of village dwellers owns a 458. I hate seeing him in his car while I'm in mine.

I think you've pretty much nailed it there Lewis, a Jag no matter how good, how fast, how souped up and maybe even superior , it just isn't an Aston and will never deliver the feeling you get driving an Aston, any Aston in fact. I love Jags , always have and I've had a couple, and was even considering an XKR before my DB9 and drove a few, but once I'd driven an Aston.....game over.

No it would have taken much longer..... It was raining you see.... So I'd have had to keep stopping to bail the car out..

Bloody Hell Mikey, so have you actually done the deed? Please tell us all about it if you have.
Spec is there and some parts are in process, just finalising costs & time scales

Hmm i wonder how a V12V would compare?
Had the same thought. Seems a more apt comparison.

£105,000.00 down by £30,000.00 in a couple of months. 2500 miles = £12.00 per mile. Then you got the running costs .......

To be equally fair, that's a model no longer in production - you'd expect it to have taken a whopping hit as it's been replaced.

The Jaaaaag is their cutting edge top-of-the-range sports car and still dropping like George's barmaid's drawers yes

But almost everything at this level suffers depreciation horrifically, which is good as then I can buy it yes

I did consider a Jag before plucking for the Aston, for me looks alone won it. The Jag just looks cheaper somehow?
