So, deposit down on a vantage v8, guess i need to sort insurance now.

Who would you guys and girl recommend for a 30 year old, garage in central london with 5 yrs no claims? Ball park figure that is fair?

Just like to make sure i am not having my eyes out on such things.

Thanks in advance

If 5k miles a year or less, try a 'Future Classic'/limited policy through ClassicLine with Equity Red Star.

Or there is Lockton's, the official AMOC insurer.

Great help, and nice welcome to the forum, thanks for that.

Sadly google isnt clever enough to give first hand experience for a small group of fella niche interest enthusiast. Otherwise, i would have done.

Thanks

Comes up about every 2 weeks as a topic. And Google is clever enough - put in Pistonheads Aston Martin Insurance - will list all the previous threads.
Oh and welcome! wink

Take no notice of Neil, he is a miserable bd yes Although he did put a smiley face at the end wink

I think plenty on here use the comparison sites and get a good deal along with the ones Yeti has already mentioned.

Better than that, PH need to get their search facility up and running again. Maybe it's being done by the same guys who launched the beta version of the classifieds... What a debacle that was biglaugh

Here's one of the most recent threads. (Started a couple of weeks ago and now only 5 pages back. Even I could manage that without a search function):

Oh wow, nice stuffed up attitude on here, i think i will revert to the porsche forum and enjoy my car without so much social activity at this rate.

Amazing how peoples preconceptions of owners are sadly quickly justified.

No where are my pipe and slippers zzzzzzzzz

So please don't let the door hit your @rse on the way out. rolleyes

Oh FFS are you are teenage girl? You asked for recommendations, I gave it to you, in what I thought was a mildly amusing way - I along with several people use Admiral.

You have a hissy fit. No I don't know how much it will cost you, even a ballpark figure, as I don't live in the same street as you, and am not the same age. Insurance has many variables, there is no point anyone here guessing, that's why Comparison Sites are so useful.

To answer you're follow up questions - yes Admiral do use Aston Approved Bodyshops, no they don't tell the garage to use non Aston parts. Yes I am talking from experience.

And to repeat - Welcome!

I pay £1,100 with Locktons via the AMOC deal.
That's fully comp on a 2006 4.3, 5k mileage limit, guaranteed value, includes trackday cover.
I'm 30yo with no NCBs (I moved from foreignland), in VERY central London and on-street parking!

I've just come in after a great morning's golf and this is the second thread I have read - the first being the proposed track day - and its not the forum I'm used to and love.

The jovial banter seems to have disappeared to be replaced by some very sad bickering. I feel like I have walked into a parallel universe. Can we get back to the great forum that we have - and I enjoy - please spin

I think the Aston section of PH is bl**dy brilliant, friendly, helpful & more of a real community than most forums/sub sections

But lets face it, if you don't have an even moderately thick skin, you don't belong on pretty much any forum ! Especially as the OP has started several topics before on buying an Aston which have been answered helpfully, at length. This latest post has also been answered, even if in a sarky manner

But couldn't something be put in the FAQ sticky with links to the threads that deal with these repetitive issues, such as insurance, tracking an aston, lightweight seats, etc

Comparison sites can be misleading. My quotes ranged from £1000 to £10,000 ( go figure) - but Sheilas Wheels who we were with already (and who were something like £2500 on the comparison site) were £500 when we called to check pre cancelling cover. Not suggesting you call every company, but asking you existing provider is worth a go as you maybe surprised ( we were!). Buggered if I would insure a DB9 for £500!
