Showroom launch event
Discussion
I know its not strictly the right place to post this but wanted to avoid General Gassing really.
I have had a few cancellations for our F-Type showroom launch on Thursday evening so was wondering if anyone in here fancied coming along to see what all the fuss is about....?
We are based in West London on the A40.
If interested please drop me a line through my profile.
Cheers

yes please. How fast can you get an F Type down the A40 without being flashed. . Winner gets a new car!
I know exactly where all the speed cameras are after having driven it 2-3 times a day for 4 years. Bring it on.You need to hear it trough Hanger lane tunnel.....
I drew the short straw and had to take one to have a tracker fitted last Friday. I got lost. ended up in the tunnel with the "loud button" pressed. ooops
Drop me a line if you haven't already and would like to come.

I am quite active in there and have mentioned it but it really isn't a very busy section unfortunatley. Also, with Jaguars expectations that 90% of buyers will be new to the brand I thought it would be worth trying to get some non Jaguar owners down to what should be a nice event.
No probs Ashley and you are of course welcome to post any useful info on this forum. Many AM owners have a healthy appreciation of the Jaguar range. It's just a bit like posting up invites to a new Aston Martin Model on the Jaguar forum that I'm trying to get my head round

There won't be many people going down to an F Type from an Aston though will there?
Please, come and give one a go. It is certainly not "going down" from say a 4.3 V8 Vantage.Might be a bit of a stretch to get someone out of a DBS I admit
Having come from an independant dealership selling Astons, Lambos, Ferraris, Mclarens, Porsches etc etc I really am shocked at just how good it is to drive and just want to get as many people in to give it a go as possible. It is a whole new customer which is being aimed at for the first time in years.
Anyone who steps out of that car without a grin is dead inside.

George.....I think you wrong.....the F Type is probably what the Vantage should be.......unless Aston up their game I think they could loose a chunk of customers
New car in beating 8 year old car shocker! You're forgetting the new Vantage due any time now. I do quite like the F Type, but it's too heavy, and has the wrong sort of gearbox (should be a double clutch automated manaul) imo. The looks are ok, it's the details that I don't like on them (i.e. the gaping holes at the front, and the fussy back). I'm looking forward to seeing one in the flesh though.
I'm sorry, the Jag just cannot be compared to an Aston, especially the F Type. It looks too small, has far too much plastic parts and has little road presences. Compare it to a Boxster or a 370Z Roadster or a Z4, but not an Aston. And what is it with the weird grab handle by the gear selector?
I don't want to have a downer on a "British" brand, I hope it does well but as I've said before, wind forward to the day that you drive your Aston Martin for the last time to the Jaguar dealer to pick up your new F Type. You park up, lock it for the last time and give it one last glance over your shoulder. And that's before you even get it home and have to explain your backward step to the neighbours. I know what mine would say....." I see you've bought the missus a new car....where's the Aston?"
And then you have to explain that it was just as much money...........Really???
I hope everyone here does go along to make the numbers up, I'm sure Jaguar would be thrilled to have twenty Astons of various types turn up to the launch of a new car.

I had a play at my local dealers. Feels very nice to sit in, well comfy. Well appointed and the finish isnt bad at all.
No boot, I mean an F-Type owner will sob to have a boot the size of a DB9. Although there are more places to put your Raybans. Lots of plastic where Astons have real metal, the usual machine built precision fits.
Not a bad car and a great weekend toy but you'd be buggered going to Marseilles for the week without sending your luggage on ahead.
XK-R is nice enough but prefer the DB9, the only difference is I wouldn't batter an eyelid at leaving an XK in an M&S car park. In the Aston, I park like a tt.
