Most of you know that on 28th May this happened: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

There has been some speculation as to what happened next.

Well we are saddened to have to tell you that Purdey is no more. We will never forget her and how she gave her life to save our lovely Lisa and Lisa's husband of only an hour. Her story will be re-told on family occasions for all eternity - or longer if Simon is really unlucky wink.

For what happened after that we have to say thank you to some people:

To the guys at Bamford Rose for collecting Purdey quicker than anyone else could have managed and for nursing her in her final hours and protecting her dignity,

To Simon Cook at AM Newport Pagnell, where Purdey went next, for her post-mortem,

To our insurance broker A & T Group, and in particular to Matt Warner for coping with Mad Rob and pushing the claim through to a happy outcome,

To Hiscox Insurance for a fantastic policy that has indeed given us our silver lining and afore-mentioned happy outcome (note - accident 28/05 - payout 13/06!),

And to Rachel & Co at H R Owen, Cheltenham for still being the best Aston Martin dealership in the UK and beating the rest to give us exactly what we wanted in a replacement for Purdey!

.................................... drum roll please .....................................

And so, ladies & gentlemen of the forum, did we go V8 or did we go V12? ..................................................

Don't be silly - real men don't need 12 cylinders when 8 cylinders are this good!!!

Meet PEARL .... Bamford Rose's new calendar girl!!!!!

Pearl is finished in Stratus White and yes, would you believe it, she is another Vantage V8S!

She is brand-spanking new and has lots of sexy extras:

Facia veneer in Carbon Fibre/Piano Black
Reversing camera
Front parking sensors
Sports seats
Black vaned front grille
Black meshes
Carbon fibre side strakes
Black textured tailpipe finisher
19" 10 Spoke Graphite diamond turned alloys
Red calipers
700W Premium audio
Glass switches
Auto-dim rear view mirror
Auto wipers
Auto lights
etc.

Tomorrow (14/06) she gets to come home with us ready for lots of exciting new adventures and we can hardly wait! woohoo

We look forward to introducing her to lots of you very soon, and particularly to those of you coming on our AM PH weekend (especially those who offered us passenger rides!).

Thank you all for the fantastic response to our unfortunate loss ... you knew we wouldn't be gone for long didn't you wink

Congratulations on the new chariot, looks really good with the black grilles and meshes etc.
It's sad to hear about Purdey but hopefully Pearl will keep your minds occupied and focused smile
Looking forward to having a closer look in July.. White is a good colour also if you wanted to use it as a wedding car in the future wink

I am woman enough to take on a V12V - indeed I took on Woolders' example with him as the unfortunate passenger (main memory - lap full of hailstones somewhere in Switzerland or Germany hehe).

However, Rob & I feel that you just don't need 12! It speaks volumes for our V8S that we couldn't replace it with another quick enough! We've both driven a number of V12Vs but love the V8 (& wouldn't want to go back to a manual box) smile

Quick? You should know us by now - none of this hanging about waiting for the car of our dreams to crop up somewhere sometime in the next ten years wink

Paint protection paranoia has set in before we've even collected it! Yes, top priority!

Great news. I told you that the Hiscox people know how to sort customers properly.

I hope that there won't be a queue of V12s tooling around in Wales behind a V8 if Rob is behind the wheel. Obviously fine if you are driving Molly.

Wooh, that just looks so good. The black and white contrast brings out the shape so well. Seems so much more aggressive, in a good way. Was the exhaust savagable from poor purdey? Might have to pop by to inspect the lovely pearl, but just great to see all sorted. Times like these you really don't begrudge those insurance premiums. The king is dead long live the king!!. Bugger to keep clean though, ah well I'm sure you won't mind that rob.

Great news that you are back in the fold with a new car and a new adventure.

Ten out of ten for those insurance chappies, they seemed to have sorted everything out remarkably quickly for you both.

Hi Andy, still not updated your name to match the car then?! Did I see elsewhere that you might be thinking of coming to
Shelsley Walsh this Sunday (Breakfast club meet)? Would be great to have a catch up. Would you like to meet here & go up with us?
