Went out for an early dinner, took the long route home, stopped at 'Hampton Court' (yes, we have one in Herefordshire too!) and nicked their location for an impromptu photo shoot using the iPhone

Certainly getting around 'Pearl', looking fabulous isn't she. I especially like the black grille, bonnet vents and side strakes, they work very well against the white. thumbup

Phase I at BR is for some cosmetic work. Phase II is for a power upgrade, how much power and how it can be achieved is yet to be discovered. One thing I am sure of, is that I am hoping they can make Vesuvius sound like this:

Bob, I cannot for a minute imagine why!!! What cosmetic work? Are you chasing 570BHP? Don't forget to ask BR to fit resonators or you will be deaf!!

Goddo, speech, many thanks. I've been referred to as being 'brave' on the AMOC site, the o/p adding, he wishes more were so. I think since I'm a comparative newcomer, I'm less indoctrinated in the established criterium, so never felt I was pushing the envelope at all really. Of course I'm delighted with the responses here, although I'm sure there exists a significant minority that have kindly declined to comment, so thank you to those too. yes

Bob, when I bought a Toro Red V8V I posted on the AMOC and was met with responses like 'It is lovely, but will be difficult to sell on' All I can say is what a load of cobblers some people speak yes

It is a stunning colour and I don't think the word is brave, it is bravo.

Graham, Cockers, thanks for your thoughts. I did own a Maserati that was Inde Rosso red, it so suited the car, so going red again was never a big deal, although I do appreciate more now, the traditional colours that have dominated the Aston marque over recent years.

Rob, cosmetics, well, we don't like the silver bonnet vents; Julia described them as looking like they are made out the same stuff that Kipling uses to put their cakes in,,,and I agree,,,they look cheap n nasty, gotta go. I like the black grille and side strakes (like Pearl has) so they are being satin black powder coated. Some additional embroidery to the headrests too, '1913' drivers side & '2013' passenger side, just below the Aston wings, then thats it. Oh yes, and these sill plaques. smile

Brave man putting 1913 on it as it's generally accepted that Aston didn't start making cars until after the First World War wink

I'm not sure its that brave, is it? Its no secret that there are numerous Centenary celebrations being held over the summer, organised by AMOC, AML and the Heritage Trust. Although I am aware from reading various threads on the AMOC site, that as you have highlighted, there is some debate about this year being the 'right' year.

I'm not in a position or of a mind to argue the point either way. confused

Sorry the humour escaped me this time Richard. The thread I remember on AMOC was pretty hotly debated by the opposing sides, put me in the wrong mind set,,,I'll blame that anyway. paperbag

Personally I don't give a toss nor do I get involved. I get heated about important things like when people use an Arabic numeral for the designation of my car instead of Roman numerals. Being the AMOC you just have to worry about these things hehe

Plaques, only the best for Vesuvius Tony. The list of reasons we cannot be at Hever must be longer than the Yas Marina straight,,,,we'd love to be there, a chance to meet up with so many of you, simply impossible. frown

Well today I test drove a DB9 and Rapide S at my local stealers. Immense. The Rapide is a lovely drive and is almost too nice to put children into!!
Anyways, I had originally gone there to look at the prospect of ordering a V12 Vantage S for Q3 delivery, and instead came away with a DB9 MY2014, stratus white, black leather, red calipers, unregistered, which is being sent up from elsewhere in the group for PDI and Thurs or Fri collection.
My first AM :-)
Can't wait to take her straight out (literally) on a long weekend golf trip to North Wales.
