So what have you done with your Aston today?

Reassembled, started, and drove my DB9 after replacing the plugs and coil packs. It is definitely a doable project for a home mechanic if you follow Aston1936's instructions.

I am so up for doing this when its time. Any big gotchas? I still have the worlds smallest 'emergency sourced' universally jointed ratchet to access the last plug on a TVR (I think) or does one also need hands like a 7yr old girl to get to the last two plugs Or do I think 'cross thread' and cough up with my feet up and wallet busted DB9 Engine with braces, manifolds, plug covers removed:

Took a very special young lad out for a trip. His mother has been dreadfully ill and he is always there for her. He's an absolute credit to her. He's also a massive Aston Martin fan. Felt good to make him smile.
Love it Bins! Have let a few start mine and blip it and just that gives such great pleasure all 'round. Ken Figenus said:

Accessing the rear manifold bolts was not as awful as I expected it to be, and my hands aren't tiny. You absolutely DO need a swivel/universal joint adapter for your socket. If I were to do it again I'd go for one of those ratchet drivers that has the push button that releases the socket or adapter. The biggest pain is the socket or adapter falling off and disappearing (that did happen to me). I recommend a 1/4" drive system for nearly all of the work involved in this job. It allows more sensitive "feel" as well as easier access. The biggest pain for me was working around the fuel rails and injectors. It's tight and busy in there with connectors, vacuum lines, and bolts to deal with.
My top advice is to go slow and easy. Don't force anything, finger-tighten all bolts before using a ratchet, and be very, very patient. And, of course, follow Aston 1936's directions.

Spent another day waiting for Thursday to come around when I can pick up my first Aston Martin.
Oh the days seem so long at the moment!

I'm trying to convince myself that the anticipation is part of the fun, I'm not doing a very good job.
Tremendously exciting.
