Thanks everyone for your really helpful replies. Having looked at the real carbon fibre replacement vs the cost I'd been quoted to apply the water coating, I'm going to buy the carbon replacement , so there is a (slight) weight saving benefit (maybe get from 16.7 to 16.8 mpg one day?!) as well as an aesthetic one too.
Very interesting re cost difference... my v8v is currently being prepped and I had specced to have the slam panel hydro dipped (not given cost yet) do you mind sharing a link to genuine CF partnand what you were quoted to dip. I may go all out and have all the interior done too. Wouldn’t mind handles, strakes andmirroes done now I think about it lol. Drove to the factory for a little look round (see the new DBS) looks good, they didn’t want us to see that we was moved along quickly lol. Then had nice test drive in the DB11 v8 . Then had a nice drive over to works for a look ,there s some very nice cars to see there . if you have not been & you love all things new & old you must go .

You could do the same for the sidestrakes in the wing, but i would use PlastiDip or similar to do the front grille PS if you want a nice 6 Bar Front Grill there is on for sale on the sale section https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/parts-and-...
