So what have you done with your Aston today?

I’m currently sat in ATS euromaster taking advantage of a fantastic groupon offer. £25 air con service and refill. Mines been a bit naff recently, only chilling for 10-15 minutes then going off. If this doesn’t sort it I’ll start looking at cleaning the condenser, see if that helps.
I got lucky. The AC on my Vantage was asthmatic at best. I feared the worst, but took it for a regas anyway. The guy said when he vacuumed it down it had 270g of the quoted 750g of coolant still in the system so if it had a leak it wasn't a catastrophic one. He reckoned it was likely to be just a bit of loss over time past seals as the car doesn't get a huge amount of use.Anyway, he filled it up with fresh and it's been nippley cold ever since.
Is it possible that your cooling fan was not working, whilst in the traffic jam?
Jon , short answer could be yes - to be honest didn’t really enter my head. Maybe bit coincidental though given circumstances - longest ever stop start journey in 3 years and really hot day but agree it “ shouldn’t have done that “ - stupid question but is there an easy way to replicate or indeed check fan to see if an issue ?
Handbook was next to useless.
Left my car at the detailer, it'll be fully paint corrected, then PPF'd and ceramic coated, then it goes to Aston Martin to replace the window wiper arm which I'll get ceramic coated at a later date to avoid future rusting. The only other thing to do is get sports cat's fitted. I am looking forward to seeing the finished article.

A few years back I was told that to keep air con working properly it is worth cycling it hot - cold 3 or 4 times in a row about once a month. I don’t really know the reason why but having always done this I have never had any problems with it not being cold in any of my cars.Anyway, he filled it up with fresh and it's been nippley cold ever since.

The reason for this is that the refrigerant should also have PAG oil and dye added during regas and this oil lubricates the seals to prevent hardening and leaks during periods of non-use. Once a month is sufficient but more is most likely better.Edited by South tdf on Friday 1st June 21:24
