Spent the weekend driving around spectacular roads in mid-Wales, some great drives, especially up here on the Epynt ranges.

Did you practice polishing another knob before trying this one?

Fair play for the job you have done on that V12V alloy knob but to be its the most grotesque gearstick I have ever seen! Cannot say I am in adoration at the V8 one but the V12 one is plain hideous in my eyes! About the only part of the V12V I dislike! Give me a nice leather or, in preference, alcantara, gear knob any day of the week and preferably not standing up like a skull mask on a bottle of aftershave!

thanks, understand your view on the design and thats one of the good things in the world - we can agree to disagree on things like that & it makes for variety & interesting design etc

responding to what was used to polish it

600grit, 1200 grit then polish, didn't put a clear over it so I can easily re polish it if needed

I find that the polished shift knob really fits my hand nicely. It is a huge improvement over the original shift knob. Just my opinion.

Well, not my Aston, but today I dropped in at AM Works and test drove their DBS Superleggera. Truly awesome and a true beast, with amazing power, especially at 50mph+... Very very different to a DB11. Thank you Nigel at AMW.

Took a friend in my db9, with 2 kids, to pick up his new 720s in blue which was stunning. First thing the sales guy said to me was “you are too young to be driving an Aston”. Lol. Then we did a bit of hooning around, that mac is incredibly fast.

Well yesterday evening we were invited, me and MO55IE, to attend the launch at AM Cambridge of their latest limited edition car, the DBS 59. Details of this amazing creation are all over the internet today. In essence the DBS 59 takes its design cues from the late 50's Le Mans winning Aston Martin DBR1, to which MO55IE pays homage. A massive thank you to Simon Lane for the invite.

Henry Cozon, the man from 'Q' here wearing one of the bespoke period crash helmets that come as a pair with each of the 24 cars, enjoys a few moments sitting with the proud owner (moi) in MO55IE
