So what have you done with your Aston today?

Went to see mine having it’s new engine fitted. The old one went bang a few weeks ago. Thank goodness for warranties.
Whilst I was there I saw this...
And then I drove away in this. A little something to make up for mine not being ready in time for Crimbo. Nice people at AM Newcastle. Hope it’s mild weather for the next couple of weeks.

Collected my Rapide from HWM and went for a blast round some back roads away from the traffic this afternoon.
Huge shout out to HWM for epic service once more. Passenger and driver doors went haywire on my car and stopped unlocking on one side and locking on the other. Straight in to HWM who fixed the issue in 24hrs pre-Xmas with minimal staff. One very happy, slightly poorer customer.

Developed a loud knocking. AM engineer classed it as a catastrophic failure. Very rare apparently.
It’s in a crate in the workshop waiting to be sent off to the factory for inspection. Prob won’t get to hear of the reason though according to the service team.
... interesting, how many miles ? Guess you had all Services done ?It’s in a crate in the workshop waiting to be sent off to the factory for inspection. Prob won’t get to hear of the reason though according to the service team.
Hope it turns out in a good way for you...
Merry Christmas

Sounds like you've had the exact same problem I had on my V8VS SP10 some 18 months back. I heard a knocking sound when I was just a couple of miles from home, and I called AM Assist as soon as I got home. They were with me within an hour, and his initial thoughts didn't sound particularly optimistic. Off it went to AM Wilmslow whereupon after some back and forth with Gaydon, it was diagnosed as a 'catastrophic big end failure. Fortunately it was still under warranty and a new engine was fitted. If I recall, I was without the car for about 3 weeks. It’s in a crate in the workshop waiting to be sent off to the factory for inspection. Sounds the same. 25k on the clock. I’ve only done just under 2k of them. Had a full service in July. Very strange.
Just bought my first Aston (on Bring-a-Trailer), a 2007 V8V. Flew to Dallas and drove it home to South Carolina in generally foul weather and (around the Atlanta ring road) foul traffic too. Had to quickly abandon the road at one point in a near pile up, but thankfully no harm. Anyway, it was filthy when I got it home so I took it to my hangar/car cleaning station to sort it out a bit. Love this thing: Good looking and it handles too!
Then home for the first time:
We're lucky in most states in the U.S.; no front plate. They are remarkably appealing when you can see the full front landscape of the classic Aston Martin design.

It's a state by state thing here. 19 of the 50 U.S. states require only one plate (the rear), the others all require two. A 2014 study by Texas A&M University Transportation Institute showed that the real reason some states require two is purely for revenue gathering purposes (ease of identification on toll roads, traffic cameras, etc) and the real reason people in single plate states want them to stay that way relates to aesthetics.
I happen to live in a single plate state; basically, the "Old South" is single plate and the northeast, west, and Texas are two plate states. I'm not moving for anything! Another reason to stay should be obvious from the picture which was taken in mid-December!
