Hi Rob, I didn't have a kit as such for doing the light. There was condensation in one unit so I followed service bulletin 0286 - basically drill a hole in the bottom of the unit. The SB says to insert a narrow tube on an air line to blow out the moisture - I did it the other way and used a vacuum line to lift the condensation and pull in dry air. It took about 20 mins. I then used an air line to put a light positive pressure in the unit and used LDF (effectively soapy water) to find the leaks.
I made up a patch to reseal the hole and fixed it with an automotive grade polyurethane sealant. The couple of tiny leaks on the edge seal were also wiped over with the PU - it stays flexible so I trust will be ok. Patch over the drilled hole, unit back on the car with new neoprene washers for the fixing bolts, job done. About an hour in total.
So the impromptu kit - 1/2" drill, short length of flexible tube, polyurethane sealant, small piece of plastic to patch the hole, new neoprene washers - (are available via PH classified ad or e-bay).

My lower centre console was looking very tired, with some particularly nasty sections where the paint had flaked off entirely. So I followed rancidswan's excellent guide on restoring the interior trim with excellent results.

It didn't take long to take it all out, and was very simple to put back together, plus the results are totally worth it. While I was at it I also cleaned, conditioned and re-coloured the leather in the cubbyhole with some leftover liquid leather. It looks a lot darker in the after shot below, but that's mostly lighting, the colour match is pretty close. It is a touch darker than original, with more metallic effect, but IMHO it's actually better now. I'll be doing the door handles next.
These internal components are prone to chips and scratches. If anyone else is irritated by some damage to the trim I'd highly recommend taking the time to do this. It's really not that big of a job.

I drove into a flying piece of metal thrown up by another car at 80mph on the A1. Big dents & scratches up the bonnet and grill.
On the plus side it didn’t hit the windshield I guess. Hopefully insurance will sort it out but it’s a massive pita.
What a nightmare. Sorry to hear this. Hopefully you receive a new bonnet and a matching re-paint soon!On the plus side it didn’t hit the windshield I guess. Hopefully insurance will sort it out but it’s a massive pita.

Had to get a new rear tyre.
Somehow I managed to drive through multiple nails and a piece of metal that ripped the old one open. Who knew that such dangers were lying in wait in central Edinburgh. I will be looking out for them from now on !!!

Picked the DBSS up after having the aircon fixed. And then a recall sorted. And given a reminder of why I never let anyone else clean my car (I haven't touched the paint myself yet). Car had done less than 100 miles when I drove it to be fixed.
