So what have you done with your Aston today?

No required. I agree. I still hanker after an open car though.I forgot you were going to come round for a play in the Volante but it misbehaved. Drop me a PM and we can see if we can make a date work for the coupe.

I did have a cheeky drive as It happens. When I arrived with it at AM Cheltenham they were rammed and couldn't accommodate me dropping it in their yard. So they gave me a pair of trade plates and asked me to take the truck to a nearby industrial park that was quiet and drive the car back. I forgot you were going to come round for a play in the Volante but it misbehaved. Drop me a PM and we can see if we can make a date work for the coupe.
Oh, must I? Well, okay. If I must.
Thanks for the offer. I'd like to get better acquainted with a modern Aston. Other than that short drive in your Volante, my Aston experience ends with the DB7.
So yesterday I thought I would remove the rear diffuser on my DB9 as the 4 plastic exhaust tip mounting points had been broken when the previous owner had taken the car into a garage to have a rear exhaust box delete and straight through pipes fitted in its place. Sounded lovely but a bit too loud for my taste. I wanted to fit my Larini backbox which was why I embarked on this job to begin with. Anyway after a lot of head scratching and slow progress the diffuser was off the car and without removing the bumper which was a bonus. I had to remove the straight through pipes of course to allow removal. I was very lucky to find a perfect condition rear diffuser from another forum member for £60 including reflectors, the insulating ceramic spacers and the all important 4 intact exhaust tip mounting points, thanks Gerry.
The new diffuser went on ok and I mounted my nice shiny exhaust tips which took me ages to polish up with a tube of solvo and a lot of elbow grease. This took me all of Saturday to do but was certainly worth all of the effort as it looks so much nicer.
Today I was back under the car fitting my nice shiny exhaust mounting brackets, more elbow grease lol, and fitted the Larini backbox. It was made more difficult by the car being on the ground, not raised at the rear, and doing the job on my own. In hindsight I would suggest that this is definately a two man job as trying to hold the exhaust in place while trying to slide the mounting rubbers on the hangers is a nightmare. Late this afternoon the job was completed and I am very please with the end result and the sound is simply amazing. I did have reservations about fitting a Larini exhaust as a few people have commented that it is a bit F1 sounding. I needn't have worried as I am more than happy with the lovely exhaust note that my car now makes.
There is so much satisfaction to be gained when working on your own car and of course a huge saving on pricey labour costs.
All in all a very productive weekend. Now for a nice long relaxing soak in the bath to relieve all of the aches and pains.

Good story. Pleased u like the new exhaust sound. Difficult to know what you'll get playing with exhausts. Thinking of doing secondary cat delete on my V12 but a bit hesitant.

Nice Car. Go for it, you can get it done with AM parts at AM dealer for not too bad a price and with no downsides. Just replicates the Vanquish S exhaust system once done. Good story. I have to say that beautiful Rapide in the centre looks lean, mean and the dogs bollix, generally! The Vantage is not Dewi's car though.

Cheers Jon - don't sing her praises half enough!!!
But no, new Vantage not mine - would need two with my brood But I think Dean's right that when the nose colours are similar to body it does all blend in a lot more and look more cohesive. It does look bloody good in that long shot doesn't it?
He's chopped it in for a DBS already - 700bhp can turn heads!!! He really liked the Vantage too
That grey Vanq is really turning my head - SUCH a good looking car! Some great pics here generally gents
