Want one, if only I could afford one,,,, Mklll drophead my ideal. So was this a Le Mans type grid event Rich. Currently in for service so I’ll be dropping off the hub centric rear spacers I had made. Not H&Rs offering as I’ve found a uk supplier. Steering wheel away at re trimmers also and booked in for BR twinplate clutch upgrade (sportshift)
Think I’ll order the divinatech ‘narrow’ splitter 🤔

Let me know what you think about the clutch upgrade. I've got a sportshift and thinking of doing the same.
what I'm needing to know specifics is booking time, time to get it done, price,
I know you are going to say contact BR direct!
Been there done that numerous times, e-mails, PM,s no answer...

I took my DB9 to AM Leeds for its MOT and returned home in a Merc E220CDi.
After a unplanned test drive in a DB11 I arrived back at the dealership to be told that the car had failed because the handbrake cable had snapped during the test. Apparently this is a known issue because the MOT test requires the handbrake to be pulled hard??? The bill for this £600+ due to 5/6 hours labour to fit the new cable (when it arrives). Not happy.

WTF! I would not be happy either! After a unplanned test drive in a DB11 I arrived back at the dealership to be told that the car had failed because the handbrake cable had snapped during the test. I have just used Alba Tyres in Leeds for an MOT and to fit new discs, pads (inc handbrake pad and sensors) and they have, as always, been superb. To be fair, I used JCT Aston for the service a few weeks prior to ensure the car was A1 ahead of the MOT.

If it's a known issue I'd expect AML to cover a portion of the cost. No way should handbrake cables be snapping on something as recent as a DB9! soofsayer said:

i would be a lot more than "not happy".After a unplanned test drive in a DB11 I arrived back at the dealership to be told that the car had failed because the handbrake cable had snapped during the test. From the MOT Manual:-
" Without operating the pawl mechanism, apply the parking brake slowly and check the effective operation of the pawl mechanism by listening for definite and regular clicks as the pawl moves over the ratchet teeth."
The test only requires a 16% efficiency so to say the " MOT test requires the handbrake to be pulled hard" is a load of bull.
They broke it - tell them to mend it

From memory (in emails somewhere) it’s about a 6hr thing. The day is booked out to work on your car. I’ll be arriving very first thing to drive home much later that day. Will be sure to tell differenceswhat I'm needing to know specifics is booking time, time to get it done, price,

Drove to Derby to be part of a cavalcade of Astons following a hearse. The funeral sadly of an enthusiastic DB7 owner. There were 10 Astons following but we did lose 2 on one of the roundabouts on the way to the Crem. A sad day but he would have loved the Aston participation. Incidentally the side of the coffin had a full side picture of his Aston. So his last journey was in his beloved car.

Thanks for the info, very helpful.
I have emailed service to request the defective parts are made a available for me to collect when the car is ready as it does not seem right that the cable should snap on a 5 year old car when being tested for mot requirements.
I had exactly this happen to my car a few months ago. The cable just snapped without warning unexpectedly. Unfortunately I was in a car park on Sunday morning with about 20 other 'club' members ready for the morning drive.I have emailed service to request the defective parts are made a available for me to collect when the car is ready as it does not seem right that the cable should snap on a 5 year old car when being tested for mot requirements.
Rung around for quotes and in the end had it replaced by independent AML Performance in Cheshire. From memory it was only £350ish supply and fit.
I do have limited sympathy with JCT as mine broke with gentle use with no warning.

I think I would be suggesting that I would be prepared to cover the cost of the part if they fit it FOC. At the end of the day it was them that broke it. If they'd crashed your car you wouldn't pay for the repair, would you? After a unplanned test drive in a DB11 I arrived back at the dealership to be told that the car had failed because the handbrake cable had snapped during the test. Thanks for the comments, this will be the last post on this as I have derailed this thread somewhat. Got a reply this morning with a 30% reduction in the cost as AM are covering the parts costs so better than nothing. The explanation for the cable break was that there was no lubrication found when disassembled today. Thanks for the info, been very helpful.
