I am new to Aston ownership but am loving my 2001 DB7 Vantage Volante.
I have unfortunately today been told I need a pair...(Ouch...not even just one !!!!) of blower motors.
Does anyone know of someone who can fix them or of any used or reconditioned ones?
I know my car shares a lot of its parts with the XJS does anyone know if the blower motor on that would do or has it come from another car.....
I cant believe that it would only be fitted to the DB7?
If so has anyone used a different blower motor or perhaps adapted one?
Thank you soooo sooooo much in advance for your help.
Otherwise I might just have to cancel Christmas !!!!

Common fault unfortunately.

Who is doing the work?

ETA: I was going to suggest the Bloxham section of the AMOC site but I see you have already.

Who told you they needed replacement? Can they not do the work for you?

Do you want to repair yourself or get an indy to do it, probably at less cost that a main dealer? You could try Astonmartinbits to see if they have the parts needed.

I think HWM make them on an exchange basis.

[quote=JONMcG]OP your best bet is to find a used set and free issue them to an Indie to fit
If the blades are knackered it will at least need new ones & correctly balanced.

had the same problem with with my DB7 i6 ....one of the heater blowers wouldn't turn off even with the ignition switched off.....the electrical diode cost £3 but it was a biggish job to get the heater out

Find a local garage who has an endoscope and have a second opinion with proof!!

I can see how the electronics can fail but fan blades in both units??? unless something was allowed to be sucked in which is still a tall order.

I fixed my own electronic fault on one of my fan blowers, wouldn't turn off.

Blades can be viewed from under the dash if you get your head stuck in there.. however an endoscope would be far easier. Whilst getting them re-looked at have them peer into the air box behind the central dash (behind radio), to check the drains are clear. ;-)

Now that is a good idea!

Give Chiltern Aston a call. There is nothing that they don't know about DB7's, are super helpful and reasonably priced.

XJS blower motors
Passenger side is more difficult as the relays/wiring has to be pushed to one side to remove the unit
Drivers side needs the speedo dash to be removed to get to one bolt
Shold be an easy cheap fix

Sooo,
It turns out I have to replace the passenger side blower.
There isn't a lot of room!! Is this removed from inside the car or is there a way or need to get to it from the engine compartment?
