V8 Vantage 19' cracked wheel rim
Discussion
Looking for suggestions please ... I took my Vantage into the local dealer this week (in Sydney, Australia) for a new set of tyres...
Dealer called and said that the aft right wheel has a cracked rim... see pic.
Mentioned that a new rim would be $2000 (about 1100 pounds) - Does this sound about right?
Not keen on having it fixed for $400 (about 220 pounds) - also an option however I'd always be worried about the safety and liability aspect.
Any suggestions please? Maybe I could source the rim in the UK and ship it out myself? or just upgrade all the wheels?
Thanking you all in advance.

Ouch.Which style of wheel are you talking about? Is it the 'standard, 7 spoke 19"' wheel like this?
If so, there are plenty available on eBay. Wheel + shipping to Oz is going to be a lot less than £1100.
I had this happen to me a while back. I ended up having it repaired at a cost of 250 USD. If you look inside the barrel of the wheel, you can see the weld line. That said, I've tracked the car several times and hit speeds over 150mph on numerous occasions since having the wheel repaired. So long as the repair is done properly, the wheel should be fine. It isn't ideal, but it's a far cry less expensive than buying a new wheel.

Thank you Bravo... yes, it's the standard 7 spoke 19' - exactly the same as the pic. I'll check out ebay also. The AM dealer also quoted $240 (130 pounds) to paint the remaining wheels to match the new one!)Which style of wheel are you talking about? Is it the 'standard, 7 spoke 19"' wheel like this?

If it's a rear, then I have an excellent spare that I can let go.
If it's a front, then I'm happy to help with forwarding a UK one for you.
