though the missing chunk in the updates leaves a question or two. Such as: how did you end up sorting the boot latches?

If you look back at page 5, my post Thursday 31st December 2015, I provided a summary of how we managed to recreate the boot latches. Thanks for your interest.

Interesting to see the picture of DBR1/1 in the Sept 17 issue of Classic Cars, without the bonnet. The text says it has a "totally accurate reproduction engine built by top specialist RSW". Carburettors clearly to the right, when on a Ted Cutting race engine they are on the left. "Totally accurate" copy, I don't think so

Nice shot of the transaxle though

I'm no expert DB4DM but I'm pretty sure DBR1/1 first raced with an engine that (standing at the front looking back at the car) had the carbs on the right, exhaust to the left. scratchchin Later on both engine types were used with carbs on the left exhaust on the right.

Neither am I an expert however according to Wiki the engine did change from that initially fitted however I would expect the carbs to be on the left (looking forwards) of an engine based on the Lagonda(WO Bentley) straight 6.

"The DBR1 was initially fitted with a smaller 2.5-litre (2493 cc) new all alloy racing engine (RB6.250) very loosely derived from the racing version of the Lagonda Straight-6 engine to comply with that year's Le Mans 24 Hour regulations whilst the RB6.300 Straight-6 (2992 cc), rated at 250 hp (186 kW) was developed for the 1957 season."

This is a Cutting engine, 3 litre approx, the block is a one hand lift being more or less pure magnesium

If ECU stands for electronic control unit, why would there be such a thing on a 1960s replica car ?

My two 1960s cars work without needing any modern mumbo jumbo.
