V12 Vantage tyres
Discussion
Close-out (ish).
No one I have talked to can source Corsas (not that I actually want them now, convinced by the MP4S disciples on here).
Ordered MP4S from black circles yesterday.
Slightly surprised they had stock, so phoned this morning at 09:00 to check - "yes all good sir".
Email at 12:00 "Actually, no we haven't got any.............."
Think I have found a pair up north, which should be shipped down to a local fitter within a week or so.
All a bit frustrating.

The converts to Michelin...how many miles bedding in did you allow?
I’m usually pretty good at the differences between tyre brands. However I’ve just replaced my 7.5mm Pirelli with the MP4s and am a bit disappointed. Nothing wrong with them of course but no revelations either.
For info the Pirelli were new, old stock already fitted when I bought my Virage wheels. They are not hard or cracked or indeed showing any signs of their year of manufacture.

Just floored it in 2nd at 30mph and it didn’t try to kill me! (Unlike on the Pirelli’s)
Did 170 miles today on my brand new PS4S on my V12VS. After 100 miles, I had some fun with the car. They replaced the 7 year old 17k miles P Zeros. Low miles as living abroad for most of that time. So, did they transform the car? No. Were they a significant improvement? No. Did they make the car worse? No. Am I happy with them? Yes. They work at least as well as the Pirellis for my type of road use and cost about the same. Am I disappointed? Well, a bit. Only because all of the hype these tyres get. To be fair, I have PS4s on my RS4 and they transformed that car from the Dunlop’s that were on it. But for the V12VS, in summary, I’ve tried them and they work. Next set will be Continental. Hopefully not in seven years though

I reckon PS4S needs at least 500 miles to bed inquench said:

Michelins are over-hyped. Don't get me wrong, they are generally great tires, but FFS it's almost like a religion or cult.Definitely felt better after 500-700 miles though - I wouldn’t judge any tyre after 200 miles.

Might be worth saying which tyres you each switched from to PS4S's - I think the switch from Corsa's to PS4S's is a much bigger than from the std P-Zero to PS4S. The corsa's are just way too compomised for UK weather. So unless your car is a garage queen and you only take it out on the hottest dryest days, you are going to see a big change going to an all year tyre, from the Corsa. The step up from Corsa to normal PZero is significant in itself.

I'm looking at PS4S's for my V12 roadster, but there seems to be 2 different types when I look.
One has a (100) on it and the bumph says it is reinforced, the other a (96) on it, doesn't say reinforced but is more expensive.
Any wisdom on here?
Well, maybe not wisdom. But the 100 and 96 numbers are the load rating of the tyres and, in your V12V manual (or a kind poster on here) will give you the minimum load rating you should fit to your car. I can't hep as mine is a V8V and may be different. One has a (100) on it and the bumph says it is reinforced, the other a (96) on it, doesn't say reinforced but is more expensive.

Deffo 100Y om the rears and 96Y on the fronts is the correct spec. Thats what i have on mine too also Mitch PS4S. Swapped from std Pirelli P-Zeros in Nov last year.
Recomendations and the fact they were cheaper. They are certainly no worse. Are they noticeably better, I dunno - probably a bit better but they dont transform it as some people say. But certainly no reason not to go for them - they are rather good!
I wouldnt recommend the Corsa to anyone, other than somebody who only drives their car on a track on a dry and very hot day.

Well, michelins now fitted. I have to agree they are noticeably quieter and more comfortable. Initial turn in is less sharp which is disappointing but overall a worthwhile change.
There’s no doubt in my mind that It would have been better if AM had made the ride softer in comfort mode so that Pirelli’s had been acceptable
